Well, apart from the ridiculous snip of JoG's post to make a point, it is actually non existent as you have around 3000 police officers to police 1.65 million people.

There has been only 13 police officers  between Truro and the Isles of Scilly for at last a decade and non of those are above the rank of sergeant.

(Also announced in the last few days there will be no police officers based in Helston they have been moved to Falmouth.)

The problem is that we no longer have a police force policing by the consent of the law abiding.

That has been the case in Cornwall for a long time.

You mean you really don't care how many people die as long as you can go down the pub.

No  that is NOT what he means at all and you know that.

The problem we have is the actions of the police exceed the letter of the law. I have seen the ACPO instructions and it is obvious.

The problem is that we no longer have a police force policing by the consent of the law abiding. We have a police force being instructed by those who think themselves above the system we put in place to make the law.

We have been told that we must not go to second homes to escape the urban pestilence m, unless one is the Queen, or the Prime Minister who have done exactly that

And while a week ago I had no idea who the hell some bloke named Ferguson was, today I understand he saw no problem in putting US under house arrest while getting some lefty activist slapper to drive for miles from her supposed husband and family home to give him a shag at his place while he was showing signs of COVID 19 infection, and got another shag in similar circumstances a week or so later when SHE was apparently showing those same symptoms.

Or so the press told us last week.

My youngest has been imprisoned in this house in Newport for the last six weeks because she was told her health issues mandated it, but now it seems they dont.

Her fiance gave up the place he was renting and moved back to his parents to put the £800pcm rent into the joint savings account they have for the deposit.

They're now sitting on about £100k in cash and have an offer in principle of a £190k mortgage which means they can now actually afford their own place and she will finally be out of my house thank F@@@.....

But they cant get on with it.

You can imagine what THEY think of this prick .....

Hyperduck Quack Quack

The anti-lockdown protesters in USA could be a growing danger and there might come a time when they need to be dealt with harshly.  The last thing we want is for anti-lockdown to become a 'virus' in its own right, spreading round the world and allowing a resurgence of the real virus.

We need to beware of the anti-lockdown idiots claiming the high ground in the absence of any pro-lockdown supporters taking to the streets (for obvious reasons).

Oh, I see what you mean, because Americans have different brains and mental functions than the English.  We don't get anxiety like they do.  It must be our lovely weather.

The article  is about the situation in America which given the subject matter is markedly different to Britain.

That is an American link, no relevance to the situation in Britain.

There's far too much research on many different problems around isolation and losing your job, that I can't school you on it, but here's some.

Well if the lockdown is only for maybe 3 weeks or a couple of months maximum, I tend to agree.  However, if the lockdown was to last many months, I have a feeling that banning these sorts of extremely low risk actions might be counterproductive as it will a) increase the likelihood of normally law abiding people getting really annoyed and refusing to obey and b) cause potential mental health issues among the people whose main pleasure in life is, for example, going hiking in the hills.

I'm sure you remember what the situation was like when these 'low risk activities' were not banned. A friend of mine who works for a small site for the National Trust couldn't believe the queue of cars that turned up (which lead them to shut the site completely).

Personally I average about 7 miles of walking per day. I consider it a pleasure, and it has been greatly reduced since the lockdown. That has had zero impact on me wanting to drive to a scenic location to walk.
Don't believe everything you think.

Have you not read of the higher rates of domestic violence resulting in more homicides.

Then there are the increased numbers of suicides.

We may also find people who were forgotten about have starved to death, I hope not.

There is as yet no data for that.

thanks to tony blair, there are in fact four separate sets of authorities pushing four separate sets of laws

Drakeford the Dickhead has decided to exhibit his gestapo credentials in wales and clamp down on all sorts.

You are now no longer allowed to cycle more than a reasonable walking distance from your home, for example, and unless you are autistic, or so handicapped you cannot actually drive, driving to anywhere to take exercise is now verboten.

It toots does not have her delivery slot sorted out, if she cares to PM me I will fire up the S-Cross and bring all of wales' boys in blue, blues brothers style, to her door to help me fetch her shopping from whichever supermarket is handy.  Because as has been pointed out above, when the plod and the people we didn't fucking want start taking the piss, people push back

And I see this morning that the Spitfire Flypast for that chap who raised 25 million for some third sector charity director's pension fund has been banned by the dept of transport as non-essential travel.

There was a time such scum would be taken out and used as cannon fodder for the test of those aircraft's incendiary cannon.
