From the few pictures Ive seen of the Spacex rocket its noticeable of how much things have changed since I did my Astronaut training many years ago . Gone are all the switches ,dials and peddles being replaced with touch screens and voice controls .

Quite amazing really when you think about it .

I guess the next step will be to replace the giant firework .

Indeed

It is made all remarkable that the astronauts don't need to do anything except sit there unless the unthinkable happens and a malfunction occurs. So today anyone can fly into space!

Interesting watching the launch. And commercial space flight for all is now starting its baby steps along with the commitment from America to go to the Moon for 2024. Perhaps isn't a major story for most, but it is a big step for renewing manned space flight and thought I share the story anyway.

But in regard to the EU, as that is something we disagree with, there seems to be a confusion of the objective of what that project is. It isn't meant to morph us into one union but to standardise our common beliefs - hence one veto and the policy is scrapped. And when you speak to Brexiteers about what EU rules they disagree with are, you never get an actual policy but some BS about pounds and ounces to kilograms. The EU is a liberal project and when our union is likely going to break up, the EU is bringing steps of cooperation to bring them even closer together since our departure.

Europe as a continent is the biggest market in the world. Bigger than America. A fragmented Europe holds no power. In a world where America is losing its hemogony, the EU does have the means to take the mantel. And little Britain, as a solo power, is weak. Our problem is our history. Where people think we are the empire we once were. And the truth is, we will be bending over backwards caving into everything just to get a deal to make Brexit appear worth it.

I dont think we do disagree on the eu.

I also think you misunderstand my position.

I am mildly pro eu. I voted remain , like 62% of other scottish folk. I argued for remain pre referendum , and once the result went out , i then argued scotland ( and northern ireland) should be allowed to stay to honour our votes.

All falling on deaf ears. This highlights the fallacy of this union , where one country that only makes up 40% of the land of these islands decides our fate on every issue practically.

Where we possibly differ is on democracy. I have argued for four years now you have to roll with it , if not , the results wil be predicatable in the backlash of the majority who voted leave.

So it has proved.

The EU is a secondary issue for me , along with things like the monarchy etc etc. If we cant control our own country , then really what actually is the point?

Every decision that affects us is in the hands of englands voters , and that must not be allowed to continue , hence my lifelong support for scottish indy.

Like Ireland did 100 years ago , and northern ireland shortly will , we in scotland will get there eventually. Brexit is a symptom of the break up of the uk , not its cause.

He was interesting , and a great man. Some good books out there about him , have a read.

Didnt say it was boycey. People around the worlds upringing isnt so different.

Good for you mate and i respect that seriously. Unlike dynorod , and many others who sneak around forums trying to deflect all criticismby trying to argue they dont support any political party ( while aiming constant fire at the tories and stupidly lying about voting labour) you will find that while many folk wont necessarily agree with you , folk respect you for sticking to your guns.

Neither do i mate , which is why i am a scottish nationalist. I am anti status quo.

You will come to see on this forum the people who support the status quo .Members such as dynorod , javert ,beelbeeb, hyper quack quack ,patman post are just a few of them.

These are the folk who want to stay in the eu , keep the uk together , work within the confines of the very system that we aim to destroy , while making fancifull arguments about tinkering around the edges of the very society that folk are fed up with.

I am not aware of him sorry. But he sounds interesting. I am not a socialist as the conventional meaning of the word says. I am a Social Democrat. I grew up in the Midlands and my father was a union rep for Leyland Daf and then Rover. And I studied economics which is why I know as much as I do in regards to that kind of stuff on Marx. So our upbringing isn't so different. But I am a lefty and that won't change. And regardless how our lives maybe, I refuse to give in to the bourgeoisie. And I don't buy this BS that we, the people, can't change our future or that we should maintain the status quo because it is convenient. So I will read up on him as he seems a very interesting person. Thank you.

Soviet Union launch first satellite, man women and dog to space but America won the space race getting to the moon!

I didnt know that Thomas. And it is interesting to know so thanks. I am aware that the UK once had a leading space agency once upon a time. But then the SU launched sputnik and well the rest is history as they say.

Quote'Scottish soldiers broke down the barricades in Dublin. But in Scotland itself the miners unite around the Red Banner raised by Maclean and his friends. Those very workers... will revenge themselves against the hangman Lloyd George.'

Later, Lenin wrote:

'the Scottish school teacher and socialist, MacLean, who was sentenced to hard labour by the bourgeois government of England for his revolutionary fight against the war, and hundreds of British socialists who are in jail for the same offence. They, and they alone, are internationalists in deeds.

You might not know this , but your host country , scotland , builds more space satellites than any other country in europe , employing over 7000 people.

Glesga produces the largest amount of satelites in the world outside silicon glen.

We are also a net exporter of food power fuel and drink , and the only part of the uk to be able to feed power and fuel itself and still have enough left over to sell.

No bad eh fur a wee country.
