Dunno. If a truck bearing the legend "Bomb Disposal" pulled up I would not need to be told to F@@@ off, I would do it unadvised and at great speed. That said, if bomb disposal wallahs work for 11 EOD, why aren't they called that instead of ATOs?

Few people in the general public would know what an ATO is which is why they are widely known as Bomb Disposal Officers.

This is a general forum not an expert one . It is the height of arrogance to use restricted to specialists acronyms and nomenclature to a non specialist audience.

There is no such thing as a "bomb disposal officer". You mean an ATO, or ammunition technical officer, affectionately known as Felix. I'm quite prepared to believe one was at a motorcycle rally since they are often adrenaline junkies, although what he'd be doing wasting valuable seconds of his life on you for is a complete mystery. He probably did think you were dangerous. To yourself.
