Apparently some people are now claiming that the flag on the tail is "upside down".
Depends where you imagine the flagpole to be...

Frankly, I think anyone using papasmurfs suggested weaponry would have all sorts of issues getting into a position to launch it.

A 82mm mortar only weighs 56.1 kg, is only 1.2 metres long and has a range of 3km. Each round weighs less than 4 kilos, and is probably available for a few porno magazines and a few cartons of cigarettes.

On the security issue — the livery looks very BA and the plane like any other Toulouse-assembled Airbus A330, so would any terrorist be readily able to pick it out among the other aircraft at the airport...?

Frankly, I think anyone using papasmurfs suggested weaponry would have all sorts of issues getting into a position to launch it.

I pointed out very publicly when the Obamanation (you have to pronounce that with a Confederate drawl) came to newport the distance from my lawn to his state buffet was less than the distance the IRA traversed with a couple of semtex laden propane cylinders when they blew the windows off number ten.

That woke the security services up.to say the least.

If only they'd had Airbnb in those days... I could have rented my lawn to.all sorts ...

But to come to your point, yes, I tend towards your view. Picking it out on a commercial airport environment might be a challenge but I suspect anyone up for such an assault would consider any objects or lives lost a success, with a successful hit on the intended target just icing on the cake.

If all they hit was the shit pump truck parked waiting to suck out the bilges they'd  call it a strike to scare the shit out of the west ....

£900 million? All I've seen say the repaint was £900,000. Still steep for a respray, but might it include a £500,000 design fee to someone's handy acquaintance?
It's been reported that Cameron spent £10 million on a refit for this aircraft in 2016 when it sported a grey paint job...
Grey paint job for a grey man.
Energy....secure and affordable, not that hard is it?

Does anyone really believe it costs £900 million just to paint The union flag on an Airbus?

Inclusive in a major service, so no, but the media/press never likes to let the truth get in the way of a good story.
However if and I stress if radar signal absorbing paint was used that is eye-wateringly expensive.

New F35. Fighter ,Cost £95 million. Voyager paint job £900 million.  A bit off thread but , if Cummings, is actually taking a look at Naval procurement , maybe it's to pay for the so called paint job.? Does anyone really believe it costs £900 million just to paint The union flag on an Airbus?

I understand that.

I assumed you meant in the air. The giveaway statement on that is there in that raf page to see for those who understand

On the ground, well, if you see a way for anyone to manage to get near enough to take out a refuelling plane in the middle of an airbase ....

Anyway, given your other remarks on its susceptibility to missiles, i really think you should read this

I was commenting on it now being a terrorist target.

I know it does not say much. But it does say enough. And after all, they would hardly tell a terrorist which version of the suite they are running would they ...
