It is Rule Britannia that your lot want banned.

As Neil Coyle said after hearing it sung by Nigel Farage singing Rule Britannia, "If you didn't hate it before, feel free to hate the song now."

And the same "lack of audience to sing" situation affects Rule Britannia.

The BBC says the orchestra-only arrangement was how the tunes were first performed at the Proms in 1905, and it's clear the evening's two rousing sing-along tunes would sound odd and perhaps rather bleak with just a handful of singers spread around an empty hall.

It's understood that the songs will return with their lyrics when the coronavirus restrictions come to an end.

Again, you're making up straw man to knock down.

When you say "your lot want banned", I and literally nobody I know personally or online is calling for these songs to be banned.

The most I've seen is "not giving a toss what a bunch of toffs sing along to".

Here's a challenge. Can you find any significant organisation or body calling for it to be banned?

Not individuals like the odd academic or pop star but a significant group

So far the only people I can find talking about the ban are those who are against the ban.

It reminds me of a scheme to buy a house at a knock down price by starting a local campaign group against the new waste incinerator (when no such plans existed)
Oh without doubt Beelbug, those ruling classes are a slippery lot.
Just because I don't say anything, it doesn't mean I haven't noticed!

Well there is an amusing side, when we said don't try and whitewash history because history cannot be whitewashed, it is part of education, the Russians have now decided it is all a cunning plan to whitewash history by the ruling classes.
Just because I don't say anything, it doesn't mean I haven't noticed!

Nobody is proposing banning the lyrics to Land of Hope and Glory.

This is concocted BS

Nobody is proposing banning the lyrics to Land of Hope and Glory.

Some of the usual suspect attention seekers are claiming it's been banned to generate clicks.

Land of Hope & Glory is traditionally (and IMHO at it's best as) an audience participation song.

A large crowd of enthusiastic (if not always skilled) singers gives the song an energy that no professional choir or singer can match.

In line with government guidelines there will not be an audience at the Proms this year.

Therefore, the song that requires an audience to sing it, wont be sung.

People need to stop tilting at woke-mills

I doubt that Boris gives a toss one way or another, but with the Beeb working itself into yet another of its woke wanks and trying to turn the Proms into a BLM singalong, he isn't going to miss out on the chance to put the boot in.

Looks as thought British politics might not end up as arse numbingly dull as I previously feared.
The BBC are mind numbingly pathetic, in most things so it won't be anything new for them.
