A branch leader for the party, Björn Höcke, called Berlin's Holocaust memorial a "monument of shame" and in an interview with the Wall Street Journal rejected the notion that Nazi leader Adolf Hitler was "absolutely evil."

I dont think the guy Hocke has his head buried in the sand ,nor has he denied anything in Germanys past .  What he is saying is that Nationalism in Germany is held back because of it . He has a point ,though of course we must remember that Nationalism in eastern Europe (the AfD are predominantly popular in the old East  Germany) does have an ugly side to it with anti immigration ,anti Muslim views .
I for one am glad we leave such alliances behind us in the New Year . Who in their right minds would vote to join a political bloc where you have to sit in a parliament with such parties ?

Is this a joke ?  I read your first link and the only connection to the AfD was that the guy accused was from  ' The same constituency ' as a leader of the party . I didn't bother wasting my time with further reading .
I dare say the AfD like all parties have their own fruitcakes but this guy isnt one of them .

Maybe the EU are getting worried .The AfD are now the main opposition in the Bundestag ,have connections with other right wing and nationalists parties across Europe and with their anti immigration and anti Muslim pro Israel stance are in direct conflict with Brussels . What happens in Berlin has consequences across the EU and it is no surprise that there is mudslinging in their direction .
