Matches and Halloween and such

Do you ever get somebody says something ( like you did) and a memory pops in your head,you did and I thought Rupert of Rubovia when I was a little kid the queen had a pet dragon called pongo.

So I looked it up and now after watching all I can see is Borkie as the bloke on the steam chariot

Happy days although I was rather hoping that the dragon would proposition Sir Albert Weatherspoon's steam engine

My first tv was just like that and we got it in 1955 I think. Dad was determined to set it up for the boat race. Other than that I don't remember too much about it so perhaps I didn't get to watch much. I have vague memories of muffin the mule and sooty oh and crackerjack. My next real memory is in my teens.

Well it was called children's hour though I'm not sure you got that,and when Wimbledon was on you got none at all.always hated bloody tennis.

TV was crap and apart from that short hour spent most time climbing trees ,fishing and falling in ponds and generally being a pita.

Well I originally posted it as rufus of rubovia but then the title on YouTube threw me and I thought I'd got it wrong so changed it to Rupert,daft sod who posted that on YouTube was wrong,anyway didn't you have a tele when you were a kid about three foot deep and a 9 inch screen

Enjoy Halloween if you like. I dislike it especially for its American origin.

Don't look forward to bonfire night, it's pretty much cancelled. Unless the Catholics are going to have another go at destroying Parliament. I think they are most under threat from within, than from outside forces.

About an hour ago I went out side to light the candles in the pumpkin and the lanterns and I couldn't because I didn't have any matches. And nor did the neighbours. Because no one smokes and we are all ridden with asthma so use electric ovens and  have become a matchless society.

Candles ?  Its blowing a bloody gale out there .   

Anyway I see or rather hear the firework season has begun with a local competition of the loudest banger . We have just had a re-enactment of the battle of Trafalgar .It was that loud the spiders are all hiding under the settee , maybe thats the idea .

I did think of rubbing a couple of boy scouts together, but I am a fat old man with a beard offering sweets to children and I reckon that is risky enough 

Actually most of the kids seem to be on their way to parties and the best customers were their mums.
