They can still get a no deal at the end of the transition period by simply doing nothing.



The new speaker of the house has said is not going to support parliament in holding the government to account, even if it's a minority Conservative government, so it's unlikely parliament will able to stop another no deal attempt.

What Steve Baker has said is to support Boris Johnsons WA . It was always known that a no deal would mean WTO tariffs . There never was any argument that Gatt 24 would be an option in a no deal scenario . It was only  suggested as I recall  within a transition period .



But that's the tories for you , soft Brexit here we come

Remember when the hard leavers insisted that the Irish border was just a remainer lie to obstruct Brexit?



It's been one lie after another to muddie the water in respects to valid concerns until reality forces them to addrss them, and then all a sudden it's not an issue.



Mr Johnson accepting Northern Ireland remaining within the Customs Union and Single Market during the transition period barely garners comment from the same people who rabidly denied was neccessary.

We cannot simply *demand* a "GATT Article 24" agreement with them: this is not how the process works.



The EU would need to agree, and they would require some form of comfort on citizens, money and the Irish border....
