Health Secretary Matt Hancock refuses to rule out mandatory Covid vaccinations:

Health Secretary Matt Hancock seems to be the only person in the UK who refuses to accept that he is being set up as one of the principal fall guys for this Chinese flu extravaganza.

Generally making vaccines compulsory for all has not been a policy that was followed in most countries, as counterintuitively it actually has been shown to reduce and slow down the take-up of the vaccine as lots of people like to be stubborn and don't like to be told what to do, even if it's something that will demonstrably save their life.

However there could also probably be semi-mandatory take up by the fact that you will have to prove you are vaccinated to get access to certain locations or venues - pubs for example.

Denmark wanted to make the vaccine compulsory but after 9 days of pots and pans noise outside their parliament, they've scrapped the idea.
I wonder how our governments will handle it?

If theses vaccines clear all the remaining hurdles, there'll be huge demand from people wanting to be vaccinated so worrying about the minority who refuse or can't be bothered is something that put on the back burner.

Some virologists have suggested paying people to have the vaccine to try to offset the reluctance in some people to have vaccinations.

I might not be an expert but I do know enough to correct you when you're wrong!

A beneficial side-effect of lockdown and other restrictions is that the measures intended to reduce the spread of covid-19 will also reduce the spread of seasonal flu.

Nah. The trouble with being a smack head is that it kills the art of conversation, which tends to be a tad limited with druggies.

Extreme cynicism and a tendency not to take anything seriously and to be pretty blase, and to have a death wish, seems to be a feature in the people I know who also shot up in squats in the 70's then gave up.

I'm being serious for once by the way, but I guess no one has the right to judge if you've been through that. Some of the stories I've been told were really quite upsetting.

You have my respect for getting out of that and making a life for yourself.

How much are they going to pay?

At one stage in my life I was a smack head and although I did it for free, I got no end of abuse. It would be nice to get paid to be a druggie.
