Elitist seems like a strange word considering I have nearly always voted for parties that wanted to redistribute wealth to less advantaged people more than the tories normally do, and advocated the removal of societal barriers which prevent people who are not already advantaged by birth from succeeding

@Javert has obviously forgotten the thread on the old forum, and the endless laughs it provided. So, would it hurt to have another one? Hell no  :D

An "elitist" according to Mirriam Webster is - "one who is an adherent of elitism : one whose attitudes and beliefs are biased in favor of a socially elite class of people"

or "A person who believes that they are superior to others (and thus deserve favored status) because of their intellect, social status, wealth, or other factors"

There are others, but I think those are as good a description as any in this case
