I met him once, on my doorstep.

He was canvassing in Jim Callaghan's constituency, in which I lived for a while after getting married, some weeks before the election that saw jim evicted and Maggie given number ten.

He had not, at that time, served his own nomination to stand in Maggie's constituency.

He struck me as neither a monster nor a lunatic. And spoke rather quietly, eloquently and seemingly knowledgeably about the issues in his manifesto.

Frankly, had he stood against Callaghan I would have voted for him.

Last year at Brecon Jazz Fringe I had the opportunity to sink a few beers and sing a few songs along with the party's current  minister of lies, who has a day job as a musician and heads up a band called "the big fibbers". Worth a Google but possibly a bit raucous ...

Dear Screaming Lord Sutch and the Oficial Monster Raving Loony Party are far too understated , moderate and rational to stand against some of the clowns trying to get elected, or elected back into Parliament on the 12th December.

If Lord Sutch could see the state of English politics today he would hang himself all over again.

<t>In matters of taxation, Lord Clyde\'s summing up in the 1929 case Inland Revenue v Ayrshire Pullman Services is worth a glance.</t>

... is the last day to serve a notice of nomination, or to serve a notice of withdrawal of intent to stand (but not get your deposit back IIRC)

Until then, any and all stories you see about who is standing, and where, are bull sh*t

Screaming Lord Sutch, where are you in our hour of need..... well, my need to know which way to place my bet with whatever Paddy Power are called now ...

I had to look him up.

Apparently on his death he held the record for the lowest number of votes ever cast for a parliamentary candidate, a record that stood until 2005...

Hmmm

In 2005 I was part of Peter Keller's Your party and I have a nasty feeling it was us who took that record (not me personally thank god) I must look up who took that record ...
