I do wonder how you self isolate and chat to local fishermen at the same time.

Quite easily, the phone, and when they walk past  on the foot path between my home and next door, give them access from the village and the back gate of the school.

Then there is the in depth and detail reporting on local radio and local TV, plus the reporting on national TV in recent days.

Find me one in a bird book, where it says Seagull.
Here's eight books with Seagull in the title and still counting:

The Seagull: by Ann Cleeves
Jonathan Livingston Seagull: by Richard Bach and Russell Munson
The Seagull Manager — How to stop the swooping, squawking, and dumping: by Travis Bradberry
The Story of a Seagull and the Cat Who Taught Her to Fly: by Luis Sepúlveda and Satoshi Kitamura
Seagull Sid — And the Naughty Things His Seagulls Did!: by Dawn McMillan
Seagulls in the Attic: by Tessa Hainsworth
The Seagull Hotel — 1945, Two Young Women Start a New Enterprise in Exmouth: by Kirstine Richards
The Seagull: by Anton Chekhov

Plus calendars, notebooks, novelties with the word Seagull in their title or description. It's also one football team's nickname.

OK, they may all use the incorrect word from a ornithologist's point of view, but that's people for you — strawberries aren't berries, jellyfish aren't fish, guinea pigs are not actually pigs. Strange thing is that most of us know what's being referred to...

You having a fun day out.

I don't think Pappy has the flu. He just stuck his head out of the door one day, saw all the tourists enjoying themselves and thought, shit, no man can endure so much happiness. And that is the real reason he has spent most of the year in self isolation  :)

Well he certainly just comes out with one liners and never comes back with the answer when you ask for one.

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

Go and piss up a rope.  Your personal insults are unacceptable behaviour.

What's illegal?

If you own a fishing boat and don't know you really are liable to be in for a shock.  (Seriously.)

18' fishing boat, purely rod and line: But the point being we go out and come in with the commercial lads, and none of them are bleating about going out of business like is being suggested.

Where I live, only two inshore fishing boats are still operating, the rest are either laid up for the winter or probably permanently. No point in fishing with rock bottom prices and practically no local market to sell to.

Fishing boat as in trawler, fishing boat as in Factory Ship, or Fishing Boat as in dinghy with rod and line ?

I mean, I've got a kayak and the scuba gear to deploy myself from it to go scallop or lobster fishing should it take my fancy, but I don't propose registering it for a quota (unless there is money to be had from so doing)

The problem that has been illegal unless you are a registered fisherman for years. (I am surprised Hugh  Fearnley-Whittingstall was not arrested years ago.)

I OWN MY OWN FISHING BOAT.

I think that gives me the edge over you, don't you think?

Well  you ought to know better then, given the news bulletins all day yesterday.

Locally 95% (or more,) of the inshore boats catch of fresh fish and live shellfish is exported, there is next to no local/national market for it.
The Covid-19 crisis has all but finished them off,  and from next January they will be completely stuffed.

It is you talking crap, you have zero knowledge of inshore fishing. Whereas I know personally all the people involved in it where I live.
There might be and it is a big might be two of them left fishing next year.
