Just because I don't say anything, it doesn't mean I haven't noticed!

It has been a constant moving of goal posts for a year as it happens.

Rishi's problem is simple. He is going to have to sell the lie to the likes of the rothschilds that their income stream is safe all the way to the year 3000 as it was in the year 1000 and h s fast running out of wiggle room.

Ask yourself this simpke question

If the lockdown last year worked, why are we now needing another, and if it did not, why are we having another.

It would be madness IMO to risk how far we've come for a few more weeks of lockdown.

It may be madness Ollie, but it is good politics.

Boris must know that his core vote are bloody sick of being treated like a bunch of kids over what is not much more than a nasty attack of the flu. That said, he has let Rishi Sunak stick his neck out, which shows that BoJo has lost none of his cunning.

I don't expect this will be warmly welcomed and yeah the economy is badly affected by this ,the good thing if you can call it that is it affects the whole world so it's in everyone's interests to get past this.

If it was a UK only problem it would be massive ,but it isn't.
Energy....secure and affordable, not that hard is it?

If the economy bounces back to pre-covid levels this year and taxes do not have to go up, that will be a good thing. But I have severe doubts on both counts. For one thing many businesses have folded already and many people have lost their jobs in consequence. Most of us anecdotally know of businesses and/or individuals this has happened to. I consider myself most fortunate to still have a job and to still be able to work. Being a key worker my services are in demand so that's good for me, though of course it puts me more at risk from this damned virus.

It does at last seem that maybe we are past the peak, with hospitalisations, deaths, and infection rates all falling. The vaccine must be starting to have an impact here. But the rates remain worryingly high at this time nevertheless. A great many vulnerable people are yet to be vaccinated. We must not repeat earlier mistakes of lifting restrictions too far and too fast. I think they should continue until everyone over 60, and everyone over 18 who has a vulnerable condition like diabetes or asthma, has been vaccinated. I certainly think that schools staying closed until March makes sense right now if we want to play it safe.

We are not all in the same boat. We are in the same storm. Some of us have yachts. Some of us have canoes. Some of us are drowning.

Apologies, but the article is hidden behind the Daily Telegraph paywall so rather than provide a link I have had to post the whole megillah...
