That is true, however there are choices to be made.

An add free forum... Which still carries some reasonable costs.

Subscriptions.

Ad's popping up all over the place like other forums.

Getting to the top of any search engine requires a few thousand quid!!

And it won't last. It's an arms race. I gave the search string I used on a recently reset system and I don't think I used terms that matched this domain ... And yet you were high on page 1.

I think that's rather good...

Ukrainian bots seem to have no trouble finding us. Perhaps we should use https://www.google.com.ua/

Finding a forum when the name is known is easy. But an outsider looking for UK political forums in general, is unlikely to uncover POL-TICS.COM when searching with Bing or Google...

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

I think it must depend upon what search engine you are using.

I struggled using the terms "politics uk" "uk politics forums" "uk political forums" and similar.

This forum was most definitely not in second or third place nor anywhere on the first three pages.

I guess I should have switched to google which I think I did in the end

I always type in pol-tics.com whatever search engine I am using. Just remember to replace the "i" with a hyphen and you are in business.

We are not all in the same boat. We are in the same storm. Some of us have yachts. Some of us have canoes. Some of us are drowning.

I just fired up a tablet in "Incognito" mode, stripped of as many cookies as I could manage, dialed up duckduckgo and searched for "political forums UK" and I was rather surprised to see this forum in second place.

Number 3 result is on page 1, that's good enough.

The following post is in no way intended as criticism. Or at least only constructive criticism.

But when my laptop died a couple of weeks ago, taking all it's saved sites with it, and I had to purchase a new one and find sites anew, I struggled to find this one. I did eventually find it obviously.

But is there any way this forum can be made more prominent and closer to the top on search engines?

I would welcome a busier forum due to more people joining and participating, from left to right. And this is more likely if more people find it.
