I always thought that was why we had diplomats . Sort out a few misdemeanours , hide the cash . sweep the truth under the carpet and sign trade deals while crossing their fingers behind their backs .

As Thomas says , its nothing new  nor is our fake outrage at various nations over the years whos standards have dropped on the yuman rights front .

Countries all over the World have trade embargos or sanctions on others for various reasons and China probably deserve more than they get but they have cash on the hip and cash is king . We will work it out .
I was going to reply to Thomas but yours about sums it up......and it's not pretty.......but true.

When was the last time the good citizens of Peking were mown down by machete wielding chanters of Allah Is Great (or whatever their cultist rant actually translates to) ?

.... ?

Well ???

Exactly. I'll take no lectures on how to deal with the cult of Mohammedanism from the scum who let them run riot in our cities unmolested.

Not that knowledgeable on this subject john , but whats the difference between china and their internal issues that are often flagged up when it suits  , and the uk biggest trading partner in the middle east , saudi arabia.?

This idea that countries only trade with decent upstanding pillars of the global community is of course laughable. Why do we ignore things in one country but flag up the same issues or similar in another?

We had blair and brown doing dirty deals in the desert with gaddafi , thatcher was  dealing with that fine upstanding fellow pinochet and so on .

I get mightily sick of listening to the uk and the yanks going around the world picking and choosing who is the latest bad guy , and acting the worlds policeman.

<t>In matters of taxation, Lord Clyde\'s summing up in the 1929 case Inland Revenue v Ayrshire Pullman Services is worth a glance.</t>
