You have to realise the French have devised a totally different legal system to the UK — unlike the UK, France's establishment ruling classes can use their legal system to rid themselves of upstarts they don't like.

Russia can shoot or poison or imprison politicians or business leaders who oppose and disregard the Kremlin's demands — France's elite only goes as fare as filing charges to destroy their target's influence and remove them from the scene. Suspended sentences are enough.

Sarcozy is said to have offered a judge — through an intermediary — a well-paid easy job, if he went easy on an investigation into some other allegations. Why was that original investigation dropped? Was a the charge of corruption easier to get the desired outcome...?

On climate change — we're talking, we're beginning to act, but we're still not doing enough...

Yeah I was thinking that when I read the story breaking yesterday,at least though he did go to trial something nerver contemplated for one Anthony Bliar for his alleged criminality.

Of course Blair will never stand in the Dock. As a Professional Advocate, he represented his clients interests perfectly and achieved the very result they wanted.
In fact, when you think about the circumstances, they could not have found a better man in Parliament for the job.
You may sometimes start to wonder if he had not been picked specially for an anticipated task.

As for Sarkozy, looks like a pantomime to keeps the plebs happy while giving him a little embarrassment and inconvenience.

Doesn't this case prove there is one rule for the rich and powerful, and another for the plebs?

He has been sentenced for corruption to 3 years in prison, but will almost certainly never see the inside of a prison.

This is how revolutions happen, but then the yellow vests have been after that for years.
