Thank you , no hangover I don't drink much, I have been fighting a cold all week so the wife made me a hot whiskey with sugar before we went to bed, I slept like a log woke up in the fireplace, I was up early as usual went for a walk round the lake near a fishing competition was on, then picked the Sunday papers up on my way back.

It is cold but dry and sunny today went for a walk in the woods early really enjoyed it, when I got back home had a nice chat with my wife over a cup of coffee then the letter box rattled, on the mat were two official brown envelopes I thought here we go more bills.

I opened one and to my delight conformation of my winter fuel allowance £200  :D , I opened the other thinking the worst saw the heading HMRC I thought here we go again how much more do they want from me now  :-?

How wrong I was, for only the second time in over 50 years of working and paying out all the time a Tax Rebate nearly £300, wife has gone to put it in the bank just in case they change their mind, tonight our kids and grandkids are coming round for a meal to celebrate my birthday which was earlier in the week.

I also won £4.70p on last nights Lottery, and £5 on the scratch card a friend had sent with a birthday card

What a great day

Blimey Winnie, you have shared the luck around. I have just checked and discovered that my coal allowance was paid a couple of days ago. And I have just sent off a mate's P55 which should net him a £2500 refund from HMRC and a decent dinner for myself and Madam by way of payment. And now I think on it, I paid the last tranche of the poll tax at the beginning of this month, so I am off the water wheel until next April.

Not a bad day.   :dsh:

PS Happy birthday
Algerie Francais !

Barry

That sounds better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick! You'll be able to afford more than beans on toast when the kids and rugrats come round, too.

Have a good time!
