. In Japanese offices it was more about reading comic books and getting shit faced on expenses.

A bit like some offices in Britain.

Japan has had the same work culture since the 1950's but somehow that does not seem to worry anyone  ::)

Curious as to why Borckie has posted this now, just as the Chinese Government have stepped in to curb the practice.

One of a number of areas where they have stepped in recently to curb the activities of large corporations.
Maybe this is why our Corporate Media in the West hates the CCP so much, because they wont let them do what they want without curb  or consequence, like they can over here.

I am in the pay of the Corporate Media of the West. Plus, when I get anything from Japan that is faulty half a dozen salary men usually commit seppuku by way of apology. The Chinese response is usually something on the lines of F@@@ off turtle.

And the girl in the video is complaining about working 12 hours a day, 6 days a week. In Japanese offices it was more about reading comic books and getting shit faced on expenses.

I worked a similar regime (different start and finish time,) plus Sundays for several years back in the late 1980s early 1990s. It was pretty common in manufacturing industry due to people like me (with multiple skills,) being in short supply.

I expect they get 6 weeks paid holiday plus bank holidays so they should be fine.
But my expectations probably don't align with the CCP.
Anything over 40 hours a week should be both optional and overtime.

I am sure that Xi Jinping will see them straight.

That said, I have never been that keen on this working 24/7 lark. Or not for me anyway. I once worked alongside a chap who was the first into the office, last out and who never took any holidays. Nice bloke and being permanently exhausted, he made endless cockups which I ended up sorting out on overtime.

The boss was a nice bloke as well. And like most bosses, was too dim to appreciate that if the guy worked less he would be more productive. Still, as said, I found the overtime useful  :) :)
