It's not a matter of 'armageddon' so much as several things becoming problems that weren't before and things gradually becoming worse.

come now quackers its hardly the "armageddon" you hoped for , but i do agree with you that some things have become worse. I also take my hat off in the fact the mess the current uk prime mininster seems to be making  , and the mans continual lies is astounding for a politician.

We now have brexiters on here turning a blind eye to mass immigration for the third world  while they incessantly bleated for an end to mass immigration from our own european continent.

:D

What a mess , and the stinking tory party are up to their necks in it again.

It's not a matter of 'armageddon' so much as several things becoming problems that weren't before and things gradually becoming worse. This appears to be what's happening and I've yet to see any benefits of Brexit. Maybe the vaccine roll-out was quicker than if we'd still been in the EU, but then who knows? Individual EU member states were always free to make their own policy on vaccines as well as being part of the EU's scheme.

I'm the first to agree that lorry and bus drivers have for a long time been undervalued - indeed they were classed as unskilled labour for a long time when in reality their job is a skilled one that involves potentially life-or-death decisions for the whole time they're driving.

Also the number of drivers of working age with entitlement to drive vehicles up to 7.5 tonnes GVW on car licences is dwindling. Anyone passing their test after 1997 needs an HGV C1 licence and CPC to drive anything from 3.5 tonnes to 7.5 tonnes.

I know most supermarket deliveries are done by bigger vehicles but this must be having an effect, especially with the suspension of lessons and tests during lockdowns.

New drivers have to pass a CPC exam as well as the HGV driving test. Then there's the old thing of nobody wanting drivers with no practical working experience but the only way to get experience is from having a driving job!

So how does this stop China from exporting the things to us that we want to buy?

Well i tell you what quackers , its nice to see all this blaming the worlds ills on brexit is starting to be found out more and more.

For example , talking about "drivers" , check this story here.

Devon bus crisis as nearly 150 staff quit Stagecoach 'over low pay and conditions'

https://www.devonlive.com/news/devon-news/devon-bus-crisis-nearly-150-5830435?fbclid=IwAR1G6vCk5uA8-zn0xHlUoZ9wSLtxmAz2bhWQps9Wez6O0IyjJf0hNJuWX2o

Stagecoach had originally jumped on your bandwagon , and blamed driver shortages on brexit and covid to a lesser degree.

QuoteStagecoach - which said the driver shortage was down to Brexit and the pandemic - has been forced to apologise to customers over axed services

QuoteBut it turns out as the story unfolds , stagecoach were talking bollocks , and union officials said over 100 drivers had left the firm due to crap pay and conditions.

But one anonymous Stagecoach employee has told DevonLive the real reason 'drivers are leaving in droves' is because of poor pay and conditions.

The RMT union, which represents bus workers, agrees.

Barry West, regional spokesman, says that while the two national issues may play some part the real problem is drivers being under appreciated by the company.

According to the union, in the last three months alone more than 100 bus workers, mostly drivers, have left Stagecoach in Exeter and Plymouth

Isnt it nice quackers that now and again a little bit of "truth" emerges in stories ,rather than the fantasies you are used to peddling?

Up to 5 months before you get your license back is taking the pliss. No wonder we have a shortage of HGV drivers. Be warned we do know about it.
Just because I don't say anything, it doesn't mean I haven't noticed!

Sheepy

How about those EU loving Bolsheviks at DVLA prioritise the driving licenses for those we have sent on courses for lorry driving and get them their licenses back with the right provisional entitlements and stop playing to the power games of union leaders?
