Bad treatment of seasonal workers has always been a problem on a minority of farms.

I might not be an expert but I do know enough to correct you when you're wrong!

You would think someone who used to work for HMRC , who claims to be an economic and mathematical genius , and prides himself in the blairite school of machiavellian politcs could come up with a new bit of patter for us mere plebs ?

Blimey, I had forgotten that one. Buggered if I can recall his name now, but he had these great stories about the power he wielded and the fear he inspired. Somehow I could never imagine him trying to serve an International Arrest Warrant on a sink estate in Harlesden.

Still he was fun :)

True.
We can't complain. Gerry has kept us entertained over the years, particularly when things have been slack. But he is, as you say, getting a bit stale. It isn't his fault. Even the EU seems a bit bored with itself. But if Gerry could come up with a new persona then I think we would all be much obliged :)
well over the years  , this small obscure and relatively unimportant online community , which patbox post often laments doesnt attract enough posters , has impressively seemed to attract a steady stream of "foreign" posters , all surprisingly and coincidentally wanting to solely talk about brexit , with the same posting style.

Now from memory , we have had a german , spanish , paddy or two , but as far as i can rememebr we havent had a dutchman or belgian.

Im thinking he needs a new line of attack , as the old tactics of project fear are now dead in the water.

I tell you borkie ,these so called centrist pro EU new labour types  are becoming dull as dishwater these days.

I prefer hallowed brexits self deprecating humour myself borkie. Gerry is starting to sound a bit stale these days , its time for him to re invent himself and take on a new identity.

Is it me or is Gerry beginning to sound like Pappy? Nothing wrong with that. Better a pair of trolls than an empty board. Still, when I read about the rotten accommodation those Barbadian lads had I could not help thinking that Gerry's mum's basement must be getting pretty crowded.

What's the date on that paycheck, Brexit UK. The EU protects workers rights, something the current UK Govt wants to change. But even with that you'll find there are people that will take advantage.  In this case its Brexit UK, nothing to do with the EU, your shooting yourself in the foot posting that.

You must have some serious rope burns on your ankles.
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

A GROUP of Caribbean workers say they were treated 'like slaves' on British farms.

Three workers, who are all from Barbados, claim they were promised a "chance of a lifetime" but were used as "slave labour" on strawberry farms in Scotland and Norwich.

The workers allege they were forced to work long hours for far less pay than they were promised and were given poor and dirty accommodation which they were also charged for.

Speaking exclusively to The Voice, one farm worker Romario Bryan, 23, said: "We have been sold a lie!
"The representative for Barbados told us it is good work and you will make £500 a week but if I put all my pay cheques together since I have been here – I have made no where near that amount.
"This isn't modern day or early day slavery – it is just slavery!
"It doesn't matter how you look at it, every day I am here I feel like a slave."

This is what pappysmurf wants back on cornish farms , brexit overturned and exploitation returning yet agin.

By christ pappysmurf is such a selfish auld tory . Treating farm workers like slaves , shooting migrants and flogging ex council houses to deprive the needy.

To be fair, those lads must have been a bit dim. Farmers have always cheated their workers. It goes back to the bible when Jacob was shafted by Laban, although sadly not by Rachel. See Genesis 29. KIng James Version of course.

This really highlights why we have to stop illegal immigration and have a minimum wage for workers we do allow to work in the UK . The tories have been talking about it along with the points based system but Ive seen little evidence any sort of policy with regard to foreign workers is in place .

Want another Gerry? you're full of it as is your beloved eu you've not shot yourself  the foot but exposed yourself as the charlatan you are that knows nowt beyond Brussels bs.

Not a leg to stand on  and you've replaced the belief of infallibility emanating from Rome with that from Brussels.

Feast your eyes on the luxury accommodation on offer in Spain for farm workers whilst the ordinary mugs are fleeced by the CAP.

Remind me again Tommy why farmers can't get workers?
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.
