ok . Im not sure scotland would have voted for david milliband if he were in charge for the 2015 GE , nor do i think , according to former labour party members like steve , that the english left would have endorsed him.

On top of that , cameron undercutting such a pro european globalist like david milliband with the offer of an EU referendum would have had similar results electorally as it did his brother. So apart from your personal abhorrence of the left under momentum and corbyn in england , and the thought of them taking power , im still unaware how david millband would have done much politically with the burnt out remains of a party that had been in power for thriteen years , and slithered its way through problem after problem till the public had had enough of them....

I dont agree in the slightest. We need parties with a clear difference in policy , not two cheeks of the same backside with a fag paper between them.

The blairites killed the labour party , corbyn in 2017 took them as close as they have been in years , and one of the highest labour vote shares in history beaten only once and that was by blair himself in 1997.

Long debated on here and elsewhere , it was jim murphy , an out and out right wing blairite who took labour to their worst electoral defeat in modern scottish politics as it was back in 2015 before corbyn came anywhere near power.

I think david milliband and the what ifs reagarding his enthronement as labour leader has long been discussed  , and the verdict among most is he wouldnt have made much difference to labours fortunes.

Corbyn was a result of new labours failure , and the left demanding their party back from the small c tories who had taken over them. If people think david milliband , or some other reincarnation of new labour is what the uk wants and needs , then they sadly dont understand the issues at stake today. Thats not a personal dig , but a general comment .

i dont. I think the David milliband wrong brother myth keeps popping up from time to time , but its no more true now than when it was first spoken.

He was tainted with new labour  , and the public had had enough of new labour in the final years of blairs reign never mind 2010. The writing was on the wall , and the mythical hero of david milliband would not have saved the party , or got them elected in 2015.
