The bad news is that if the 45% of the Scottish vote the SNP obtained were translated to any future referendum, they would have been shown to have failed to move from their position in 2014 and Wee Krankie will be out on her ear.

Well as i told you before it was actually 46% of the vote including the pro indy greens.

I lack your Caledonian Calvanism Tommy. I don't want an efficient and virtuous government, Mostly I just want it to keep out of my way.  



As to the cladding, I can only speak from my experience which was that the local authorities in London have been running around like blue bummed flies in their attempts to have in removed.



Incidentally, as far as I can see the only media outlet that carried the Dany Cotton Guard of Honour story was the BBC. Were I somewhat cynical I might feel that they were pissed at the thought of losing a good story. Whenever things are quiet the media seems to lead with a I meet a bloke at the Sainsbury's checkout who said that his girl friend's ex boyfriend drove past Grenfell Tower only ten years before the fire and he is still traumatised. Indeed, I might go so far as to say well, sh!t happens. The fire was getting on for three years ago. So how about shutting up, putting your shoulders back and getting on with your lives. But I won't because I am too decent.

I am not entirely sure about that Tommy. I know that my borough and the ones to the north and west of me acted pretty sharpish to remove the cladding off all their tower blocks. Overall I have, somewhat to my surprise, more faith in the basic decency of the local authorities than the hysteria of the Independent's columnists.

When you are faced with voting for dumb and dumber in the english two party FPTP stitch up that they call democracy in your country , you are going to pick the best of a bad bunch. If you held a gun to my head and said pick one  , i would vote tory too.

The fire service did what was expected of them if she'd have changed how they operated and people died she would be slagged for going off piste,can't bloody win.

That does seem to be the general opinion. If I lost friends, family and my home in the Grenfell fire I doubt that I would be feeling very philosophical about it, but the search for scapegoats appears to be getting out of hand.
