Actually, it was Sadiq Khan, socialist mayor of London that gave Dany Cotton the Spanish Archer. As usual it looks as though his blame shifting exercise has backfired on him.

Ah well you know best borkie.

only thing is though it says here in the guardian ( i know i know) that...

QuoteThe London mayor, Sadiq Khan, also resisted calls for her to go.

A group of bereaved families met Khan at City Hall three weeks ago and restated their demand for her to resign.

... :hattip and in this one , the torygraph accuses khan of defending cotton

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2019/11/04/grenfell-families-accuse-sadiq-khan-sitting-silently-letter/">https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2019/1 ... ly-letter/">https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2019/11/04/grenfell-families-accuse-sadiq-khan-sitting-silently-letter/

So while you say khan ( as you know im no fan of him or his party) gave cotton the spanish archer , it seems he supported her all the way through and only backed her resignation at the end .

As ever though me old china you know best. ;)

All true Tommy. You have the makings of a fine politician in you.

The good news is that with 44% of the votes that he scored in the general election, Boris will be in number 10 for at least the next 5 years,

The bad news is that if the 45% of the Scottish vote the SNP obtained were translated to any future referendum, they would have been shown to have failed to move from their position in 2014 and Wee Krankie will be out on her ear.

Well as i told you before it was actually 46% of the vote including the pro indy greens.

I know you are programmed to believe we are all mindless borgs voting snp , but as i told you before there are a number of prominent pro indy parties in scotland of whom the snp and greens and pre eminent.

65% of scots voted for parties that accept the right of the scot parliament to have another indy ref.

You think it done and dusted , i think it all to play for so we will see how it pans out. :-P

So its going to be as funy as feck watching the snp undermine the tories attempts to do brexit trade deals for example when they put "fisheries " on the international market , and foreign customers come along and say we want to do a deal bojo , but how can we when the scottish have double the uk eez than england and take 62% of seafood landings , so how can we do a deal with you when they are about to leave the uk?

long way to go yet borkie.

and the next time the tories scream" it was that big girl dany cotton wot did it ,and we know we are a bunch of corrupt incompetent selfish arseholes that cant do our jobs , but so is everyone else" , the response they get at election time might not be what they hoped for.

QuoteYour party is shite in government , and the only reason you got elected was the only possible alternative in the stitch up of democracy you use was slightly less palatable than you.

Could be Tommy, although it might also be that even the MSM has finally twigged that the next time someone appears  on the Telly and tells us that he died in his local only three counties away from the fire and would we send zillions of quid to ease his pain that rating wise, the response might not be what had been hoped for.

I mean borkie , you have just spent four years feckin up brexit ,including the most suicidal election campaign i have ever witnessed or read about in uk political history in 2017 , with  the poor excuse , like dany cotton , its always someone elses fault.

As we saw though in the thatcher major years , you always end up running out of people to blame .

So you can conjure up all the anecdotal evidence and conmen ripping off the gullible public all you want , but it still doesnt reflect positively on the conservative party in government or the facts in the links i provided.

Sorry to burst that anglo saxon bubble of conservative fantasy borkie  , but the fallout from grenfell (among many other issues)are a stark reminder of how porous even conservative propaganda can be when assailed by hard fact.

The fire was getting on for three years ago. So how about shutting up, putting your shoulders back and getting on with your lives. But I won't because I am too decent.

The tories are feckin hopeless in government , and being only slightly less worse than labour certainly isnt some badge of honour that anyone should even attempt to defend.

I lack your Caledonian Calvanism Tommy. I don't want an efficient and virtuous government, Mostly I just want it to keep out of my way.

As to the cladding, I can only speak from my experience which was that the local authorities in London have been running around like blue bummed flies in their attempts to have in removed.

Incidentally, as far as I can see the only media outlet that carried the Dany Cotton Guard of Honour story was the BBC. Were I somewhat cynical I might feel that they were pissed at the thought of losing a good story. Whenever things are quiet the media seems to lead with a I meet a bloke at the Sainsbury's checkout who said that his girl friend's ex boyfriend drove past Grenfell Tower only ten years before the fire and he is still traumatised. Indeed, I might go so far as to say well, sh!t happens. The fire was getting on for three years ago. So how about shutting up, putting your shoulders back and getting on with your lives. But I won't because I am too decent.

I am not entirely sure about that Tommy. I know that my borough and the ones to the north and west of me acted pretty sharpish to remove the cladding off all their tower blocks. Overall I have, somewhat to my surprise, more faith in the basic decency of the local authorities than the hysteria of the Independent's columnists.

Fair enough borkie , but i wasnt just quoting hysterical independent columnists , i quoted itv as well.

Frustratingly, the Government has repeatedly failed to act with urgency on this issue.

...and that fourteen months after grenfell , there were 60 tower blocks where the government hadnt even identified if the cladding was flammable never mind done any work to remove it.

I appreciate why you vote tory borkie , in all seriousness , i really do.

When you are faced with voting for dumb and dumber in the english two party FPTP stitch up that they call democracy in your country , you are going to pick the best of a bad bunch. If you held a gun to my head and said pick one  , i would vote tory too.

I also as i  have told you many a time get brexit , and why people in england vote tory to get out the eu , i really do.

However  , when folk on forums like these try and defend their pathetic record in government , then they are simply taking the piss in my opinion.

The tories are feckin hopeless in government , and being only slightly less worse than labour certainly isnt some badge of honour that anyone should even attempt to defend.

Meanwhile , whenever anything goes wrong , im sure they will find a dany cotton somewhere to take the flak.

So grenfell could happen at any one of these towers at any time. I wonder if and when it does happen god forbid  , the tories will find another dany cotton and fire service to scapegoat?

Feel sorry for the woman she operated under existing guidelines and is being scapegoated, she didn't clad the building with crap materials.

The fire service did what was expected of them if she'd have changed how they operated and people died she would be slagged for going off piste, can't bloody win.

Despite all the tory rhetoric , this article here from the summer says ...

QuoteDespite government promises to remove the dangerous external cladding that allowed fire to travel the full height of the building, consuming the lives of 72 people as it scorched the landmark housing block, there are still 221 similar towers clad in similar materials with work on its removal still yet to start.

The Tory manifesto promise on cladding was essentially more of the same", says Apps. "They say they're going to support the residents of high rise buildings, but they have not announced any new money or ideas to how to get flammable cladding off.

That does seem to be the general opinion. If I lost friends, family and my home in the Grenfell fire I doubt that I would be feeling very philosophical about it, but the search for scapegoats appears to be getting out of hand.
