It does not matter a toss who fills the potholes. Most of the money will be given to local workmen who will spend their wages on local women and drink  and thereby inflate the local economy. Mandy Pandy knows that, but she prefers to act as though we are living in a world of Tiny Tims on the one side and toffs organising peasant shooting contests on the other.

Labour has written to Michael Gove to ask why his department reportedly supported an award of £330,000 from a government fund for a bid to fill potholes on a former Conservative peer's driveway.
