The first two pictures are ayr , and ayr beach looking across tae arran , and the last loch lomond at balloch. Troon is just up the coast from ayr , its an old welsh word  "trwyn" (nose or cape).

If you are a golfer , plenty golfing all along that coast mate.

Glasgow is only half an hours drive maybe bit more depending on traffic from ayr and the coast wae troon , got everything in central west scotland  highlands , sea , city  all within easy reach mate.

To be fair, golf's not my thing.

When your eyesight is as bad as mine was until after the cataract operation you can't see the ball fifty yards away never mind the fairway.

But my lasting memory of that area was the callout to video a wreck in the sound of Mull. The fortnight before Christmas.

Jumping off a trawler deck in -5 with horizontal sleet on Dec 19th 2001 I hit the water and started to boil alive. Then I look at my gauges.

I'd hit the water rigged for Arctic survival. And thanks to the gulf stream I was taking a 12 deg C bath. In a layered drysuit configured to save me from frostbite and hypothermia for over an hour.....

12 Deg C is Torquay in April....
<t>In matters of taxation, Lord Clyde\'s summing up in the 1929 case Inland Revenue v Ayrshire Pullman Services is worth a glance.</t>

When I say dry ski slope this is the sort of shite we used to get to have a go on . Nothing like your snow covered hill. No wonder we are rubbish at it even for those who could afford the kit .

what is that streetwalker? Borkies allotment? :D

As for Dry ski slopes there isn't one in Moray but travel East and you will find one in Alford and another at Garthdee in Aberdeen. Don't know if they are council owned though.
you been to the wan at braehead in renfrew moray? indoor ski slope at soar intu?

pretty good. You can sit in the chinese restaurant and watch them all falling about.

anyhow , we dont want to hear anymore anglo saxon excuses as to why they are shite at sport in general. A bit of morris dancing after a few weak pints of bitter is about the limit. :D

Given we don't even get a frost in these parts that lasts past 9 o'clock in the morning nor snow in 9 years out of 10 and the fact the council closed the dry ski slope years ago I guess we will leave the Winter games to you North Britons .
As for flags it was your girl that proudly carried the Union flag into the arena at the start of the games so it was that flag she and her pals were representing .

Makes you proud to be British ;D

Only 19 of the 50 athletes were Scots. Also, it may have escaped your notice that UK Alpine eventers have to go abroad for training. But the likes of the curlers, ice skaters, ice racers, ice hockeyers, can train in this country where there are many indoor centres.

So yes I think we would all agree with Morayloon that it is countries  that should be represented in the sporting arena not Political associations

To be fair Streetwalker, given they have lottery funding it is kind of the expectation to wave the Union flag. I don't know what the views of the Curlers are in regards to independence, but I am more sure than not had Scotland been represented as a nation on its own, she would also be proud to wear saltire.
