I ordered a few garden tubs on Sunday and have just gotten an email saying that delivery will be a bit late and is that ok. So I rang up and the chap at the other end said it would only be a few more days, whereupon I said that would be fine because I wasn't in a rush. But, I asked, how about future orders. I am buying tubs slowly because while the rules of the game are that if tubs are planted they are left, empty ones get nicked. It is all the East Europeans on the site. Light fingered bastards who will steal anything, but who will dig a field for sod all, so these things work out, although I am inclined to think the real reason Putin invaded the Ukraine was to get his lawn mower back
Anyway, the bloke said no worries, they had 5,000 on order which should last two or three weeks. And I thought sd it, that is a lot of tubs. And other things. And a hell of a turnover.
I always had this idea of a garden supplier as a chap in moleskin breeches that he boiled up by way of soup for Sunday lunch, but clearly it is a much bigger business than I thought.
