I have never made any secret of my republicanism so it would be hypocritical and dishonest of me to pretend otherwise now.

But I recognise the dedication of the queen to her concept of duty, and acknowledge the sadness of her passing.

On a human level I don't think she ever got over the death of Philip.

Perhaps there is some solace to be found - whether you believe in heaven or an afterlife of any kind - that if souls live on, hers and Philips will be united and together in love again.

Looks like you were right, may she rest in peace? The crown the throne will never be in better hands. Somber and sad .

Sometimes it is better not to be right I guess. Not that I am a royalist or anything. But it is sad that anyone dies and I will of course say the same for the Queen.

I'm not writing anyone off. I hope I'm wrong but it is what I have heard. There is a protocol they are currently running in London and when it is complete they will announce her death. They have cancelled the evening TV schedule and the BBC correspondents are wearing black. The clues are there, I hope I'm wrong but my instinct is... Well... let's just wait.
