I suspect that Pappy lives behind a hill and gets his knowledge of geography from Terry Pratchett's Disc World novels. It also explains why he holidays in Brittany, which is to the east. If he traveled south he would be in danger of falling off the edge of the world

:):)
And do you get your geographical knowledge out of the Beano?

Brittany is to the south of Cornwall, not the east
We are not all in the same boat. We are in the same storm. Some of us have yachts. Some of us have canoes. Some of us are drowning.

More totally uncalled for personal attacks. I holiday in Brittany, because where I go there are no British tourists. (Brittany is South of my location.)

Why don't you. If you care to rock up at my location with a load of explosives and heavy equipment to lower the horizon at Zero South feel free. That Satellite at Zero degrees South is below the horizon AT MY LOCATION. The Satellite at 0.7 degrees is not.
I suspect the manufacturers of the kit know a lot more about it than you do. (I had the same problem setting up the original kit.)
Just a thought but wouldnt a firestick be easier ?

Nick thinks he knows better than the experts, it is him who is wrong. The clue is topography.
180 degrees for a satellite is north, of course it would be below the horizon. If you actually listen and look at zero degrees which is due south you will see that ALL satellites around due south are at 32.3 degrees. You can either accept it and learn something or continue looking a fool.

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

It would be a first to admit he is wrong. His M.O. is to go quiet.

Give it a rest! Why cause you can't admit you're wrong?

It is NOT above the horizon where I live. Just give it a rest.

The point is I am not a bricklayer.
Isnt that what we are talking about , that some jobs are best left to those qualified to do them and the scarcity of such folk ?

I also wonder where and if the proliferation of immigrant trades people got certification as soon as they set foot in Britain.
NVQ's were handed out willy nilly to make us all equal under the guise of European integration . A complete disaster for our manufacturing ,engineering and construction industries but good for Europeans and companies seeking cheap labour .

Standards dropped and  remoaners moan about not getting skilled workers , you really couldn't make it up

The point is papa is that bricklayers dont need to adjust it ,they lay them properly to start with .

What you probably don't realise about lime mortar is it is like superglue once you lay a brick on it that is it you can't adjust it.
I also suggest you go and look at some old buildings that used lime mortar, the bricklaying is rubbish.
The point is papa is that bricklayers dont need to adjust it ,they lay them properly to start with . And yes there is some rubbish work about that would not have been intended for public viewing . More recent fashions have seen these walls exposed for various reasons by  oddball architects and younger homeowners who think 'exposed brickwork' is some sort of selling point .
Even today Im told to ''just slash it up mate , none of its going to be seen ''  In a 100 years someone will expose it as a masterpiece centre of attraction ,and someone else will say its rubbish .

Ive done a few small jobs myself with help from U tube  but  you wouldnt want to be doing anything major using it .I dont think we are talking about competent DIY but actually people who are experts in certain trades .Thats Cornwall for you , from what Ive seen they can't even lay bricks in lime mortar :)

None of them locally will tackle installing a motorised dish. (That is far more involved than you seem to think.)

Tradespeople were finnished  when they brought in NVQ's instead of apprenticships .

By the way a person  who screws a dish to the wall isn't a tradesman he's a bloke with screwdriver and a compass
