Whatever the Gremlin was it appear to have gone as has the slowness of the forum loading.

The speed of the forum is governed by the servers which are hosted in the USA. 
No gremlins, that's the beauty of software, it does the same for everyone. And seeing as no one else suffered the issue it must have been something at your end.

What does that mean?

A thread appears to have new message(s) in, but when the thread is opened, they are not there, I have to go to the person who posted the messages profile and open the message from there.
