Mum assures me I had all the kiddy vaccinations. I've since had tetanus, hepatitis, yellow fever and a couple of other things recommended for travel at the time. Now I've had all Covid and flu jabs as they're recommended.

Is big pharma making money out of me? Possibly. But, so far, all seems to have worked out for me and other family members.

I don't mind people pursuing their own health beliefs, providing they don't endanger others — and here I might be persuaded to apply papasmurf's thinking against Andrew Wakefield. But I think I'll always defer to those I consider experts...
Hep and Tetanus are pretty standard for travel and Yellow Fever is one of the entry requirements for entry to a lot of places, African countries usually.
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

He should have been charged with manslaughter.

What are you blathering on about?  There has been three years of crackpot antivaxxers opposing all vaccinations not just Covid.  How many of  those idiots babies/children have not been vaccinated against a wide range of diseases that were routine vaccinations for decades.

It is a serious issue. There are countries where the illegal immigrants/asylum seekers are rocking up from where diseases like TB and hepatitis of all types are common. As well as other diseases.
Well of course the crackpot anti vaxxers never had a foothold in the UK until 1983 when after a baby was brain damaged following the administration of whooping cough vaccine in circumstances where administration was contra indicated for at least three different reasons two being the baby's state of general health which required the vaccine be delayed until they were no longer showing the signs of being ill with an unrelated issue, the investigation ruled the problem was caused directly and solely from the administration of the vaccine while contra indicated, and then some prize T@@@ in the dept of health had the lawyers rule that because the parents gave consent for the jab, the problems, and the entire cost of the care of the now quadriplegic vegetable child was on them, not the state.

The story plus an interview with the state sponsored wanker made it to BBC Breakfast Time in its first month's if transmission. Whooping cough vaccination figures tanked faster than bitcoin valuations.

It took YEARS for the damage that one T@@@ did to confidence in the NHS vaccination system to return

Infections are reappearing that were all but eradicated,is this all down to immigrants? no some is and some because people are dissuaded by again some ill informed anti vaxxers.
It in some cases it is all down to immigrants. In others it is the fault of exotic foreign holidays and someone bringing something nasty back with them.

Those nasty foreigners are bringing the plague. Except they aren't.  But let's stop them anyway,  because we should.

The reality is that won't be known until it is too late.

So despite all his fine talk, Pappy has not been keeping up with his booster shots.

Oh dear
Borchester this thread has precisely ZERO to do with my personal circumstances. (You can't help it can you.)

Immigrants/asylum seekers clandestinely entering the UK, pose a very serious threat when it comes to disease outbreaks.  I am astounded than when/if intercepted they are not subjected to strict medical checks and three weeks quarantine.
It is a very serious issue.

Although a booster could be required after a decade or so, Diphtheria is rare in the UK because babies and children have been routinely vaccinated against it since the 1940s...

No offense Pappy, but aren't you a bit old to catch diphtheria? I had it but that was over 70 years ago.

Since 1942 in Britain when there was a mass vaccination against Diphtheria, cases since have been rare to zero in the years since, until this. (I wonder how many more diseases they are bringing in? Tuberculosis springs to mind.)

50 migrants recently arrived in UK diagnosed with diphtheria
A vaccine programme has been stepped up in migrant processing centres after a large increase in diphtheria cases in 24 days. The immigration minister said public health is the government's main concern and they are going above and beyond to prevent cases from spreading.

Robert Jenrick told MPs that the number has increased from just four cases on 1 November, when he first gave an update, up to 50 on 25 November.

He said the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) found the cases, which were across different asylum accommodations, had developed before the migrants had entered the UK, either in their country of origin or on their journey through Europe.
