Last word on this there's two choices close the thread but this is an important issue so not doing that.

The other is posts exchanging insults and wind ups will be edited as will complaints that it is being done.

Can we all be a bit more tolerant of each other stick to the issues and politics surrounding this and not personal views of each other.
Thanks.

Calling him an idiot doesn't help either does it?
I would have used what I really think but that would have got me banned.  The number of times I have corrected him about his lies about me and yet he still keeps on repeating them. That is harassment and bullying.

The caravan was in Brittany, that shows you how much attention the offensive idiot takes.

And where is the food going to come from once you've filled all the open spaces with houses? And where are the new supermarkets, shops, hospitals and schools going to go? To say we can take another 25% is ridiculous.
I am referring to how many houses could be built, not how many people we should accept.

And the reduction in rural land space from 92% of the total to 90% would have minimum impact on farming. We import much of our food anyway. And far from all our rural landscape is given over to farming to start with. New supermarkets and shops tend to be invested in by the private sector wherever they think a viable market exists. It isn't public money that sets up a new Tesco or Aldi. Schools and hospitals would have to be built in response to higher numbers of people, not more houses.

Besides which I am not saying we should build one quarter more housing and other relevant infrastructure. I am merely suggesting we build enough to adequately and affordably house the people already here as well as accommodate industry needs, eg the tourist industry, plus sufficient to house any increase in population that does take place. The 25% figure was simply a demonstration, statistically, of how easily we could spare the space, and not something to aim for if not required. And a figure offered merely to disprove your false assertion that we had no more room for new housing.

if you paid more attention you'd know he said he scrapped his caravan, let's face it constant mentioning the same thing to goad isn't funny at all I only mentioned once your property and circumstances surrounding and you lost it calling names and protested every one has their pinch point and I reckon that includes smurfy.

How would it be if that I mentioned once was brought upon a regular basis?

Sorry Ollie.

My apologies for thinking that Pappy ever said that he had a caravan or a property in the Lizard.

And maybe you could dig up all those posts of his where he spoke of fighting to get people into work as opposed to stopping them being offered any.

Goading posters is not a good look.
Supporting working nurses isn't people sitting on their backsides.
Would be good if views were exchanged rather than insults

This is simply untrue. Only 8% of the UK is urbanised, meaning that 92% is not. We could increase our housing totals by a quarter, ie build millions of homes, and the non-urbanised areas would still account for 90% of our space.

UK natural capital - Office for National Statistics (ons.gov.uk)

Cornwall in particular is a highly rural area. The largest town in Cornwall - St Austell - has a population of less than 26,000. The capital of Cornwall - Truro - has even fewer. And the entire population of the county is little over half a million. Most of the land area consists of fields and moorland, with a few small villages scattered amongst it all. There is plenty of room for more houses in Cornwall.

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

Come off it. Whilst there are many areas of natural beauty in Cornwall, as well as areas of scientific interest, this hardly accounts for all of the vast rural area.

It does where I live, and traffic on the narrow roads is bad all year around, (and dangerous.)

And most of the time Cornwall is far less congested than most other parts of the country. I frequently drive on Cornwall's roads myself and know this. As for infrastructure, the entire nation needs more investment in that, not just Cornwall. But we have to house people somewhere, and that includes Cornwall's nurses. Yes there is a problem with landlords converting lets into holiday lets and this should be more restricted. But much as you hate them, tourists are currently a vital part of the Cornish economy. Cornwall needs enough housing to both service them and accommodate the locals.

Cornwell dwelling nimbys won't help anyone down there apart from maybe themselves. Having moved into a rural area these often wish to pull up the drawbridge behind them and stop others from coming, either temporarily as tourists or permanently as residents.

I know it is not always easy to do and I myself am prone to ignoring my own advice, but better option is to ignore and report. Because you respond so tetchily all the time is why they do it. They know you will bite. And when you do, a long exchange often ensues which derails a thread with what just looks like a troll fest.
If ignored they get worse. Out in the real world they know they would be consequences. They hide behind what they (wrongly,) think is anonymity.

If AirBnB was banned and second homes discouraged there would be little problem with housing.
Currently there are 20000 families on the housing waiting list.
