The poor family who have lost their 4 yr old boy in the Centre Parks pool. Staff were apparently in tears as they and paramedics soon on the scene, tried to save him. It was a wave pool but I don't know if the waves had kicked in at the time. I took my two grandchildren to a similar thing years ago when the youngest was about 4 and the other about 6 and even on the edge of the action I was a nervous wreck once the wave machine started.

There were plenty of warnings as I remember that the waves were coming and of course the kids were fascinated. We stayed in about 3 inches of water at the edge for safety sake. Their parents weren't with us and there was no way I was risking them. Years before with my own girls, we were in a similar setting in the USA and I saw several youngsters struggling and needing a hand from those nearest. As mentioned I don't know if the waves were involved but my heart goes out to them.
