I don't think so,  China will not want any interruptions to its trade routes into the sea of Japan  and will decide N Koreas fate when the time comes if it doesn't agree with what China wants . More likely to see Chinees troops in Korea than a revolution if the rumours are true .

I think they would need unification with South Korea to have any chance of stability, T00ts.

There are going to be those who have too much to lose to let very much happen in that direction. I just hope any madmen are kept well away from any dangerous buttons. Having said that thought there was talk once that their weapons displayed in some massive procession were toy ones anyway.

Imagine the unrest though. There is a people completely removed from the real world with what looks like mass brainwashing. Look how Russia struggled when they became democratic. They couldn't cope without that framework of demands, fear and force. In fact they didn't cope in the end and we have Putin fulfilling the same role as past leaders. Are the Russians better off? I can imagine N Korea being even further back. It will take a seismic change to bring them into the real world.

This has been rumbling around for a few days hasn't it? It is going to leave a terrific power vacuum if he is gone. His sister has featured lately - another pair of very hard eyes, but will there be a cataclysmic power struggle? I can't see such a macho culture accepting a woman leader easily. Will the people rise up yet? There are rumours too of a diabolical situation with covid 19. Not a happy place to be I would have thought.
