Runner beans

Just planted runner beans in the belief this year will stay warm and sunny for longer than has been usual. Mrs suddenly wanted them, so dashed off to B&Q for a packet of seeds, some paper seed trays, and a packet of potting compost. Have to go and collect  some canes tomorrow.

I'm planning to plant the beans in front of the composite heaps at the end of the garden using four-cane pyramids, but I reckon it'll be a week before there's seedlings.

Mrs now wants an apple tree — guess I'll have research dwarf varieties...

If you are short on space, you might try planting the tree in a dustbin. It lacks a certain rustic charm, but it makes it easier to move around and water
