It does seem a big increase which is a legacy from George Osbornes term as Chancellor .  Maybe the publicity will make those involved have second thoughts ,you can't cap wage rises then give the Crown 45% . It certainly won't increase the Royals popularity .

Which should bring his income to £125 millions a year and prompts the question, what will he do with the money ?

I am pretty much the same age as Charlie and like so many others, my mortgage has been paid off, the kids are well launched and these days the eldest grandson takes me out for a pint. So it would be an agreeable problem, but still something of a struggle to spend so much cash
