Well yesterday I heard two policy announcements, one Tory and one Labour.

The Tories have said they will help first time buyers with cuts in stamp duty. The problem with this sort of policy as amply proven in the past, is that whilst initially it might help a few people on the margins, without any increase in housing supply, the increase in demand it generates just pushes up prices still further. And whilst this is good for elderly Tory voters who already own their own homes, it tends to be bad for the more productive sectors of the population.

Labour has promised to reform the business rates so as to give a much better deal to smaller businesses and to revitalise high streets. This is potentially great if done properly, but there is as yet no detail and probably won't be this side of an election. It is likely that once in power all we will get is a tinkering around the edges exercise as meaningful change gets dumped in the "too difficult" box.
We are not all in the same boat. We are in the same storm. Some of us have yachts. Some of us have canoes. Some of us are drowning.

"National Service" - it's like the conservatives are worried they might win too many seats!

(Hello again,I hope you are all well ;D)

In all seriousness, the announcement of this "policy" shows what a shambles the current government is.
There were a number of serving and ex service personnel where I was at the weekend and there comments about bringing back National Service, Sunak version are unprintable. The Tories have cut the armed services to ribbons, and treated ex service people like dirt. (Plus more armed service personnel are committing suicide than those killed on active service.
The days of  strong in the arm and thick in the head squaddies are long gone. IT skill and reasonable education are needed. I suspect the number of youth in Sunak's  target "audience" is limited.

It is purely designed to appeal to would be reform voters - all of whom would not be caught by this policy and the overwhelming majority of whom would never have done national service.

That's all the conservatives have left, fag packet policies they never intend to implement, brought to life simply to try and stop a few voters leaking to Reform.

Then we have Rachel Reeves who has this week been saying she can be trusted with the countries finances . She couldn't even be trusted with her own (MP) credit card which was suspended in 2015 for overspending
Given the number of crooks in the tories, plus them giving friends lucrative government contracts many of which have been proven to be a sham.  You need to open your eyes.

Even more racist that Diane Abacus, and that's saying something.

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

The Tories already have alienated nearly everyone.

Perversely I am looking forward to a Labour government as they will just totally alienate everyone,

Not really a lot happening yet, is there?
A few old Tories, like Give and Leadsom jumping off the end of their careers.

Still nothing from Angela Rayner who is keeping very quiet. Maybe HMRC are looking out for her.
I'm waiting for some proper manifestos to be published. Not that any of the miscreants stick to them, but they can be entertaining.
I think the whole preamble has a strange feel to it: Labour should be a shoe-in but are doing everything in their power to derail their campaign. The Tories have been through the mill with Covid and the War but I get the feeling their core won't desert them, and Reform are banging the drum but I think will ultimately flop due to Tory voters not wanting to hand Labour a victory.

I want to vote Reform but am not sure if I will do so when the time comes.

Perversely I am looking forward to a Labour government as they will just totally alienate everyone, especially businesses and the economy will crash. They will of course get away with it for a couple of years and blame it on the Tories, but ultimately the vast majority of people will be impacted and they will be a one term disaster.

As for Rayner, she has probably been told to wind her neck in and keep a low profile: she is 100% guilty and if she keeps her word she will be gone. I'm sure Sir Stammer will be devastated.

Rishi might not get his way because the word on the street is that letters of no confidence are going into the 1922 committee at a rate of knots. And that they are aiming to stop the GE, as someone put it, he has chosen suicide over obliteration.
That's an interesting take on it

Personally i think he's had an offer from across the pond and he's off
<t>In matters of taxation, Lord Clyde\'s summing up in the 1929 case Inland Revenue v Ayrshire Pullman Services is worth a glance.</t>

Early days . We know what the Conservatives are all about and look forward to seeing what crap Labour come out with .

Reform has a problem with lift off and have failed to attract any political big hitters so will remain a minor consideration and the Lib Dems LOL .

I just dont see any reason or anyone thats worth the effort of the walk to the polling station .:-[
