Labour are going to take us back to the (good ole) days or British Rail!! Does anyone in their party actually remember how bad it was?

This is most definitely a loss for me.
It was under-resourced and patently crap.

Problem is the private companies have delivered services that are far more expensive and far less reliable and generally far more crap.

And as such have managed to convince a majority of the public that public ownership is at least a lesser evil, especially as they are tending to compare what we have today with the better run and cheaper publicly owned railways on the continent.

Few want to go back to British Rail as it was, but want a service more akin to what they have on the continent today.
We are not all in the same boat. We are in the same storm. Some of us have yachts. Some of us have canoes. Some of us are drowning.

Don't know if there was any caveat put in place to buy back, if not they are going to have to compulsory purchase which will cost them a fortune.
When the contracts run out don't renew them, no cost. Parts of system have been effective renationalised, due to the incompetence of the private companies. All of the rolling stock is leased, that would be the only cost.

It would be a big project to administer.
They say within 5 years, so no one will hold them to account?

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.
