I only ever cook 'Curries', a word that doesn't originate in India. And if you talk about the word in India everyone has their own perspective of what it means. Some believe it to be a veg dish, others, any dish with 'gravy'. An interesting word because I can't find any 'passage to India' for the word gravy, but it is widely used. There are obviously lots of Hindi words that are widely used in the English language but how gravy got there I'm not sure.

SOME HINDI WORDS

Pyjamas
Shampoo
Doolally
Bungalow
Jungle
Juggernaut
Cot (child's bed)
Dinghy
Punch (drink)
