I have a couple of shower doors that I was going to use, but I can't get them from where they are to where I want them to be.

What lights? My wife and I "wombled" a window frame when a neighbour had double glazing fitted. I was also given a load of timber boards, too good for firewood.

I wondered if that had happened. I saw a UK lady on TV who was camping who seemed to be saying that they had missed the last ferry and didn't know what was going to happen. You were lucky to have avoided it. Building a cold frame is a small price to pay.  :D

I like R Lee Ermey, as spams go. But British NCOs have to have a particular sense of humour. An "at least you get a good laugh with your kicking" kind of thing. Even severe bollockings rarely went by without one.
