Though, perhaps, on second thoughts — hearing a news bulletin reporting that large crowds of people are moving to Yorkshire Dales, Lake District, Snowdon, the coast, etc — it appears pointless urging people to take notice of any advice they are given. Perhaps total lock-down or letting the virus rip are the only options...

Looking at the comments in the link, I think we would be deceiving ourselves if we believed such unpalatable thinking was not taking place — quite rightly in my opinion, as it seems sensible for every outcome and scenario to be considered, if only for many to be discarded for "better" options.

The mistake appears to be government advisers thoughtlessly talking about obviously sensitive issues where they are likely to be spread and misconstrued...
