This morning, my MP replied saying she will pass my request for clarification to the treasury.

I'll let you know what comes back. I suspect I will have the truth in April's payslip before the treasury reply though.

Cheers. I sent an email to.my bloody useless MP but apart from a 'weve received your email' I've heard nothing more.

I will put anything concrete up.here....

No one asked me to consent to this, I just got a call from my boss telling me it is happening. But the company ha e a bit of a track record where not following consultation requirements is concerned.

I'm ok with sitting on my arse for 4/5 of the salary. I know the alternative is a P45. And I suspect I'll get one anyway  if I do, it will be the end of the place, theres only one employee programming the production line systems and that is me.

jog:

My employer has relationship with the organisation that is running this web site:

https://www.lewissilkin.com/en/insights/furloughing-employees-what-does-it-mean-for-employers">https://www.lewissilkin.com/en/insights ... -employers">https://www.lewissilkin.com/en/insights/furloughing-employees-what-does-it-mean-for-employers

It addresses most of the points you raise (mostly from the employer's pov) but, as yet, hasn't complete answers.

Though I consider I am being treated well by my employer, I will keep referring to this site...

Serious question to any who find themselves in the 80% club and have had someone explain it in detail to them

For employees, which I am now, Is this 80% of the GROSS ?? or 80% of the NET ?? And if it is 80% of the GROSS, can I expect an adjustment to refund the excess tax I will have paid ? and what of NI, it's been so long since i had to calculate my own, is it stil calculated on what you actually earned this week / month as opposed to a cumulative value for the year as tax was ....

Paid in June and backdated to when you remained at home, but so far no firm termination date.

Seems to me it's freelancers and self employed who arrange tax an NI stoppages to their best benefit that are likely to find themselves under similar regimes to paye personnel in future.

The past 10 years' austerity looks like it could be around for a while longer...

I commend you to the legal case referred to in my SIG ...

And yes, I think my grandkid's grandkids could be paying back the interest on this one ...

As of Monday, I am on 80% of my salary on condition I do nothing to earn it.

Don't get me wrong, I'm delighted to be getting £1,714 a month to do***k all instead of £2,143 for working my arse off

However, I have the distinct suspicion that will be £0 by the end of the month after that. Plus a P45 and P60...
