It's almost as if those behind the scenes pulling the strings want Trump to be elected again.

I don't think so.

It's just some hippies glamping out with no food or water since the homeless folk stole it all (no joke) and will die out soon enough.

I joked that sending them weed would probably kill the thing off as they'd be too stoned off their nut to do anything, and would hug the officers and it's prolly still true.  ???

Unfortunately, such conflict in the US is not regarded as armed insurrection as it would be in Europe. The whole political scene (from ultra Right to Hard Left) is underpinned by legal arms ownership and use.

except it isn't.

when were you last in the states ?

I was there last September, in the northernmost of them, where gun ownership is the only way you stay alive if a grizzly gets your scent.

And it was while waiting for the wife  decide which bit of jewellery to bring back as a souvenir for our eldest that I had a fascinating chat with the Trump Supporting store owner.

I had not realised it until then, but if you take advantage of the US right to bear arms and do not at the same time register for their equivalent of the TA you are not a patriot, but a deserter. Well, that's how he put the constitution's declaration of the right to bear arms as part of a well ordered militia. And I thought that a rather aprt way to put it.

The other thing that struck me is the Juneau equivalent of Wal-Mart DID NOT have a gun counter. And the bars and restaurants all had notices pointing out it was an offence under the town statutes to bring firearms into those premises. where they leave them was not made clear. I remarked on these notices to the barman in the strongest possible english accent i could muster so they would understand I was asking as a curious tourist not a pissed off local - apparently the town's hotels require you to deposit firearms with the local plod while you stay inside the town boundaries, and firing weapons within half a mile of the town boundary is a crime. I wouldn't recommend loosing off any rounds on Mount Roberts - the local Tinglit Indian Sacred ground - either.

<t>In matters of taxation, Lord Clyde\'s summing up in the 1929 case Inland Revenue v Ayrshire Pullman Services is worth a glance.</t>

Hopefully such reasoning will not be imitated and spread widely here...
On climate change — we're talking, we're beginning to act, but we're still not doing enough...
