So with many a tear and shudder she has agreed to get some outside help in, which means that I will spend the next 5 days in the garden watching someone else do the donkey work.  :)

Have you recovered yet Borchester?

I am fine thanks Pappy. I don't want to go into the sordid details, but it was like turning on a tap for a few days. And I have not had headaches like this since the last time I had such headaches. I would not be surprised  if someone hadn't given me a dose of this Chinese bug that is doing the rounds.

Still, it has its plus side. Madam has finally accepted that getting me to climb on the roof and fix the drain pipes followed by hauling the mountain of rubbish at the end of the garden to the council dump might result in her being reported to the NSPCA. So with many a tear and shudder she has agreed to get some outside help in, which means that I will spend the next 5 days in the garden watching someone else do the donkey work.  :)

Worth remembering that unless the bug itself is exuding a toxin - I'm thinking stuff like diptheria - digestive tract issues generally become serious through a mix of general dehydration, mechanical or general exhaustion through a lack of ability to rest, and most critically of all through dumping so much of your vital electrolytes your systems do not enough left to work properly and from that point on irregular heart function in the absence of enough of those electrolytes the does the rest.

this is the main way that DNR "pathways" work - while keeping you drugged to the eyeballs to make sure you don't feel (much of) the excruciating pain this would normally cause.

This is why "holiday tummy" remedies are those disgustingly tasting powders of revolting nothing but aftertaste, whose job it is to shove down  the top end an overload of the electrolytes you are ... to use the polite medical term "eliminating".

And yes. I speak from experience. Never again am I going diving in the red sea in bloody high summer. I did it to help out a mate who needed a divemaster but the heat - and it was only the 45 degree heat - got me and pushed me down the slippery slope of electrolyte imbalance. Hell On earth with palpitations to match.

Thanks for the thought Pappy, but I think I will just sit/lie here and feel sorry for myself. It always worked in the past.

You have a computer in the thunderbox?

It is a thought, but the real problem is getting there. Christ, it is like turning on a tap. Much more of this and my back teeth will end up in Beckton sewage works.  :)

Dunno what has happened. I was as right as ninepence a couple of hours ago, but now I am as sick as a dog. I can't even lie back and sleep it off because every half hour I have to get up and either pump ship or demonstrate my ability to crap through the eye of a needle.

I don't like to cast asparagus, but I wonder if the moderators have been washing their hands before using the keyboards?
