Lets not forget the biggest piece of fake news in modern political history , not just in the uk but potentially the western world , was the labour parties fake news and dodgy dossier about invented and imaginary weapons of mass destruction which led to the iraq war 16 years ago.



Not only did this piece of fake news cause the destruction of a nation , it caused the displacement and death of hundreds of thousands of people , including 179 uk servicemen from communities in my country and yours as well as over three hundred wounded.



So when people like papasmurf pop on his poppy at this time of the year , and get all warm and glowy inside about the simple minded battle between good and evil over the course of the second world war , people like myself also like to remember the 19 scottish soldiers slaughtered in the iraq war over nothing more than the labour parties fake news.



You wont see papasmurf post anything other than anti tory threads on this forum if our old forum was anything to go by. At the same time ,echoing your words and mine above , he will have selective amnsesia about the labour party , believe what he wants to believe while burying his head in the sand , while defending his beloved labour to the death.



He is no stranger to fake news himself  , on our old forum he was constantly quite happy to post fake news in defence of the disgusting anti semitism in the labour party as well as mocking the words of woman like dame louise ellman , a labour party member for 55 years who recently resigned over the disgusting anti semtism in her party which wurzel and his sidekick macdonnel refuse to tackle in any meaningfull way...

The labour party , and their toadies absolutely infest the BBC in scotland.



FFS ,theres that highly impartial excuse for a journalist , sarah smith , daughter of the late labour leader ,standing next to a crowd of scots and saltires with her back turned pretending they arent there with a right sour face. :lol:

And of course former bbc journalist paul mason famously commented among many others the bbc in scotland is a highly biased organisation that is fully unionist , and he claims it works at full on propaganda strength both during the days of the iraq war under labour , and the scottish indy campaign under tory.

Look papa , i dont disagree with you that the tory propaganda machine , now entitled "the fake news machine" ( new phrase for something that has been around for ever) is something that is ruthless and real , and also something the tories have been using for a long time.



Again though how you present this one sided story is merely to attack the tories , when the labour party ( all parties) have done the exact same thing to a lesser or greater degree.



In this guardian article here , it talks about new labours media management and spin , practically the exact same thing you complain the tories are doing. It even goes as far as to suggest tony blair copied his oppositions tactics in doing so....

The  uk is infamous for having one of the least trusted media ( by its own people) in the entire developed world. It doesnt matter if its labour or the conservatives in power , both use , and have used the media to present spin and lies to the general public , and will continue to do so as long as the media remain relevant.

In this instance the DWP disguising  advertisements as news articles by journalists was questioned by the Chair of the Work and Pensions Committee before the offending disguised advertisements appeared. (The DWP internal memo about it was leaked.)

The DWP still went ahead, which is why the furore and complaints to the ASA.

The blatant lies and propaganda in those disguised advertisements is unacceptable which is also why they were seen through as soon as they were published.

The DWP spent £250000 of taxpayers money on the exercise which are arguably illegal.

This thread is about a call to journalists not to be part of the government's 'fake news' machine. Not advertising.

Your various obsessions have led you to make broader claims about the Metro and DWP. I'm surprised you've not also tried to rope in the Financial Conduct Authority as well as the ASA...
