As far as I am aware, the polling for Bojo has him riding high.
He is a ridiculously popular politician.
But he will end his career despised as they all do.
Can't see that happening for another 8 years however.

Mmm - you see I can't see that at all. The electorate is fickle and there are a lot of votes on borrowed time. If the desired results don't come thick and fast I can see BJ becoming a liability. What I wonder is if the country is ready for change beyond their imagination. The accent is on recovery from Covid and 'getting back to normal. now mooted as Christmas time, but ours is a new normality and EU freedom, should it be as promised, will be a normality so far unheard of. I just wonder if there is sufficient vision going around at present.

Brexit: UK 'sleepwalking into disaster' over border plans, hauliers warn
12 minutes ago

The UK is "sleepwalking into a disaster" over its border plans for the end of the Brexit transition period on 31 December, road hauliers have warned.

Groups representing truckers have written to ministers warning of "severe" disruption to supply chains.

Rod McKenzie, from the Road Haulage Association, said the government should "act now before it's too late".

Transport Secretary Grant Shapps said they were working to ensure the "best systems are in place" at the border.

The government has also given itself powers to build temporary lorry parks in England without local approval.

But Mr McKenzie told BBC News: "It is a real case of the government sleepwalking to a disaster with the border preparations that we have, whether it is a deal or no-deal Brexit at the end of December.

We just sacked thousands of them.
No reason to stop yet it seems.

They had 5 years to sort this out.
And all they did was everything in their power to avoid doing so.

Whhaat?? The Tories had 5 years?

They were.. in power, I hate to break this to you..

QuoteBye.
Enjoy your new life shelf stacking at Amazon.

If the polling carries on... Bojo may do..

QuoteCummings is doing an excellent job as witch finder general.
How they hate and fear him.
LMAO.

Isn't witchfinder general a pejorative? ;D

You will find that the tories who were in power for the last 5 years haven't all been the same people.
5 years ago they were Remainers.

The Tory party deselected a load of them.

The electorate sacked a load of them.
They also sacked all the EU staff.

The remoaning civil service however, were left untouched until Boris took power about a year ago.

The Daily Remoan on the other hand, is still moaning that Brexit sucks daily.
And clearly there is still a market for that story amongst the general public.

Cummings is more like Rasputin.

Haven't you heard? He's making Britain great again. Where's your enthusiasm and sense of national pride man?

I have to say that you have hit a nail. Where is the national pride anywhere? Is it permanently lost or is it dormant somewhere? We need to move away from the status quo, away from those who rely on the EU and invest in those prepared to really go world wide, although I personally would exclude China. Chinese world domination is something we should actively avoid.

I'm told that the country was nice, if pretty rough before I was born around the 60's and 70's roughly, and started to decline during the econ-political crises and social breakdowns during the late 70's.

Well admittedly all that is in my memory bank, and it was many things. My own view for what it's worth was that it was led by social changes as much as political ones. Expectations changed. For a while it was a case not of what job you could get but what did you want to do. There was choice.

I do believe that deprivations experienced through 2 world wars gave us a generation of parents who on the whole simply didn't want their children to be deprived of anything. Society relaxed in many ways, even simple things like dressing formally. I remember being quite shocked one day when I looked the length of my local High St and it was blue. Everyone was in denim! A small thing but somehow it struck me just how radically life had changed. only a few years earlier men would have been in suits and women in hats and gloves.

The change in the electorate was followed by Governments. The demand had changed thus politicians did too and for a while Westminster was catching up with the public mood. In all this relaxation of course we struggled and looked to the EU. We were still hogtied to regulation and restriction, while Germany having received world wide aid had flourished with relaxed regulations. Entrepreneurs had been allowed to fly and the EU looked like the way forward to the majority although not me. Unfortunately the EU has become regulation bound in a similar way that we were back then and as a result eventually they will either have to change or innovation will die. Another reason to leave.

I don't think we are terminal, but we do have to encourage thinking outside the box and that will involve radical change from the restrictive rules and mind set we have inherited from our time in the EU. This is why it is so important that we don't agree to any jurisdiction from them. It is stifling competition and the EU's strategy of a level playing field is for just the reason that they don't cater for competition within their regime.

The seeds of the rot were sewn back in 1948, and speeded up after 1979, and really went into overdrive in May 2010.

Yes it has been insidious, but careful shopping can limit the impact. My experience has been that most Chinese products though competitive for price are inferior in most other ways. I have actively avoided for a number of years.

The problem is the Chinese components/materials they are in every vehicle and electronic device we buy.

You are too late for that. Practically everything non-food and non clothing we buy, has components/materials in it that were either made in China or mined in China.
