I do like an optimist! Papasmurf providing credible evidence is as likely as a sparrow laying a goose egg! ;)

I am not responsible for the cognitive dissonance on this forum.

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

To be honest, I find Wasps more troublesome than Scots Gnats...

is that the best you can come up with pat?

perhaps you are best sticking to complaining incessantly about racism in the met police and throwing in empty puerile one liners in the back of threads.

Sarcasm and humour seems to elude you.

I remember Blair's priceless utterance: "A day like today is not a day for sound bites. But I feel the hand of history on our shoulders...", on the death of Diana...

He has just successfully sued a newspaper because they stated that.

Excellent. You could put that in the jokes section.

I find the Bercow technique good for Youtube comments. Youtubers can get very carried away, especially on threads about Extreme Rebellion. It seems to works well.

On climate change — we're talking, we're beginning to act, but we're still not doing enough...

Then he demanded a million quid to go in the Jungle, no doubt going on the after dinner circuit and cleaning up their.

Tried his best to stop Brexit, that's all he tried to do.

100% the opposite.

He gave Eurosceptic backbenchers a BIG voice and largely enabled the referendum.

Even Mogg HAD to thank him for that fact.

Ok - but hardly unique among commonsfolk is it. :)

I too liked Bercow and thought he tried his best, even if people decried some of his actions.

I like Hoyle as well and found his tribute to his late daughter quite touching. Good luck to him..he'll need it with that lot..

It was interesting that not one candidate had a positive comment on Bercow during their candidate speeches, but there were slights galore, if muted.

It is lucky for Hoyle that he will start afresh with a new parliament and if he's really lucky the electorate will have weeded out the worst offenders for him.
