Now we have Starmer which kills a lot of discussion and is one source of complete boredom,

This.

Completely agree here toots.

King of the abstainers who is so scared to come out and take a position on pretty much most things that he is fast becoming one of the most useless opposition leaders in modern history.

Starmers main problem seems to be he is shit scared of those in his party who oppose him , and shit scared of what the media might write about labour.

That monotone wooden voice puts me to sleep evey time i listen to him.

At least wurzel was fun. Never a dull moment with momentum , but these blairites are as dull as dishwater.

Why couldnt they have elected red ken livingstone or even put lammy in charge for a laugh ?

Some good posters among that lot barry , and i totally agree with your post.

I would add to the list old posters such as jamc , uganda , balthasar , and many others , and when i first joined steves old forum i think albion was one of the mods.

Not religous , neither am i into theology , but i have to admit daveuk was a great poster  , and i learned quite a bit from reading his posts.

Remember daft jim franklin? I mind one time he threatened to report me to the procurator fiscal for arguing with him , i havent laughed so much in years.

all good posters warts and all , back then though the internet forums were all new and fresh , and to be honest it was like the wild west.

Still i have to agree with the general sentiment , its all got a bit stale at the minute. Part of it is we need an injection of some more anglo left wing posters to provide a bit more balance( on steves forum it was the opposite) and part of it is the last four years being stuck in a never ending rut re running the same tired old brexit arguments we are now seeing revived yet again.

Also , there is a general malaise in the air obviously over coronavirus. Definetly bah humbug time rather than christmas cheer this year . I have spoken to so many people who keep saying to me christmas is cancelled this year , pretty sad state of affairs.

Anyway hopefully easter will bring something different. We will be well into vaccinating the population by then , and three months into whatever brexit brings outside the eu.

Dont let the bastards get you down is what i say. ;) :)

;D ;D You are often quite obtuse, it was always the cat that bothered me. I choose to avoid things that frighten as a rule. There's not much I can do about any of it so as long as I know when to duck I can pretty much ignore the rest.
Well, the fat Cat sang for you, as you wished. Nobody is perfect.

We all just need to hang in there. You have to remember that the year before the last election kept us all on the edge of our seats with the shenanigans in Westminster, change of leadership, Corbyn being Corbyn which was always worth a topic,  there was plenty to talk about. Now we have Starmer which kills a lot of discussion and is one source of complete boredom, the EU is doing what the EU does best - running up to whatever wire it can conjure up. How many now?   Trump is a spent force unless he can create something outrageous as a parting shot - but parting he is even if he refuses. Covid continues in its relentless invasion with a trickle of possibly questionable vaccine tickling it at the edges for now.

What is there to talk about that's new? Well the final wire will be broken very soon in Europe and no doubt we will all disagree on the outcomes. Biden might remember to turn up for his inauguration no doubt with his wife whispering in his ear to remind him of which job he's taking on and his new address. I am sure that over the next few weeks there will be lots of new excitement both here and abroad. We are just currently suffering from the doldrums after a surfeit of excitement.

In the meantime there is Christmas with all the TV repeats to look forward to unless you can find some decent films to gorge on with the turkey and trimmings. A chance to draw breath perhaps before the New Year onslaught to come.

Energy....secure and affordable, not that hard is it?

Barry

Quite right. Nothing happening - went for a walk this morning and was amazed to see our relatives, complete coincidence.

Later attacked a shrub in the garden and filled the green bin up ready for Thursday. The blue tits were moaning at us.
