Did you swallow your widescreen TV whole?  Why control something for which we had herd immunity months ago, if not last year?
Maybe because the Westminster party fear anyone who dare step outside of their box of tricks and they always need to jump in and control them/it. Which the Chinese being clever little feckers know only too well. The Westminster party will say with their chums around the globe it is about saving lives and upholding their democracy. Which we know is bollox, it is all about power, control and wealth. Just ask big Pharma.

The protesters, who seem to be a mixture of alt-right libertarian Blimps and left-wing conspiracy theorists. are the sort of people who would have protested at the blackout during WW2 because it might cause more people to trip up in the street.

What they are doing is putting sub-issues from their own political idealism above the main issue, which is getting covid under control. We have a bad government led by an unsuitable PM, but at least they've got some crucial things right in relation to tackling the pandemic.

Those princes who have done great things have held good faith of little account, and have known how to craftily circumvent the intellect of men.  Niccolò Machiavelli.

The benefit of issuing daily figures is to counter accusations that data is being hidden. It's also allowed us to see whether the numbers of hospitalisations and deaths are rising or falling.
Good idea to start issuing Cancer and Heart Disease figures along with Covid. We might then be able to determine how many critical beds have been blocked over the past 18 months by severe Covid sufferers, and how many of those severe sufferers had been jabbed when they were offered the vaccine...

Well everyday a smile, don't jump to conclusions but then again, we have a bad case of moles. Leaks everywhere.

I am finding it quite difficult. The advice to me currently is not to mix with the unvaccinated, to go back to home delivery or at least shop when it is very quiet. Sanitise, mask, space all the usual.

It is impossible to gauge what protection each one of us has after the jab or after infection. Anything short of 100% leaves people like me still vulnerable so the so called freedom day has actually involved my withdrawal. The daily numbers - more particularly any I can find for the local situation is what I need.

Anecdotally 3 families at my Church for example have had a family member test positive so Church is off limits for me. I guess to be able to make an educated decision, I need as much info as possible.
Nothing difficult at all T00ts,do you follow the advice presumably of your GP who went to medical school, did a stint in a and e and then years of general practice or a bunch of amateurs on here and the wider world who think they know better.
Thinks for a nano second  :) ;)

Lets start issuing Cancer and Heart Disease figures along with Covid, a bit of perspective may ensue.

We now have almost no restrictions now, what is the benefit of issuing daily figures?

So stay isolated until this nonsense is over, which it should be by Christmas

Which Christmas?

The only advice I can give Toots is that if you are worried about this bug, don't take any risks. I can't see how any of the precautions are doing any good, but they probably are not doing much harm either.

The real problem with this flu thingy is that it is scaring the life out of a lot of folk. So stay isolated until this nonsense is over, which it should be by Christmas when we will send Depputy over to rub your chest.

The advice being given to me by the local medical centre is to avoid people and shops. (Given Covid is spreading like wildfire in the area due to the massive influx of potentially plague carrying tourists I am sticking to that advice and mask wearing and social distancing. )

Actually, most people did. The WWII blackout was extremely unpopular and led to a massive increase in deaths from road accidents with an estimate of between six and seven thousand fatalities. Another problem were AA guns. They rarely hit any German planes but the resultant shrapnel probably caused half of the Blitz fatalities.

Interestingly enough, this was all known in the 1930s. But government heard the call of the Duckys of the time and decided that if they could not do something effectual, they would shut the punters up by doing something bloody stupid.

Bit like the lockdown really  :) :)

I so knew a box for them was coming Ducky, can't they just be ordinary people who have had enough of this Authoritarianism to cover for societal collapse which has been caused by the very same people who have constantly ignored the majority of people while following an agenda of their own and told everybody else it is what is best for them. Which it seems you have fallen for hook line and sinker.
Take it from me their idea of build back better don't mean what you think it means.
