I don't know but XR are considered terrorists, so why any supporter should be considered good leadership material, is probably based on the Corbyn and McDonnell model.

Alex Sobel is Shadow Minister for Tourism and also a supporter Extinction Rebellion.

I have an image of the end of Covid 19 and all the art galleries and museums and restaurants and hotels opening up and little Alex running up and down and demanding that all the tourists go home because they are destroying the planet by using cars and planes and non organic bicycles.

Sir Alex does seem to be facing a dearth of decent talent.

Says it all, really. His apology is meaningless.
What is the point od apologising if apologies are meaningless?

Describing business as the enemy in any blanket sense is a silly thing to say. Though describing all businesses everywhere as a force for good would be over-egging it too. What would be true is that some elements of the economic and business world are the enemy in the sense that they are champions of bad practice, gross exploitation, and piss poor contracts. Labour ought to exist to work against the worst practitioners out there, forcing them to behave better, all the while recognising the fact that there are many good employers.

But it was clear upon reading his words that the context of what  he was saying was that business was an obstacle to the sort of transformative socialist changes he believed in and that now he cooperates with businesses. To describe them as enemies was a poor choice of word but understandable in the context.

My biggest surprise is that Starmer still had a socialist in a shadow ministerial position. How did he escape the purge?
We are not all in the same boat. We are in the same storm. Some of us have yachts. Some of us have canoes. Some of us are drowning.
