The only reason there is no fuel at the pumps is because people are buying it when they don't need it.
Because of the tosser at BP where the CEO has to struggle on a miserable £1.75 million per annum,I think we all should have a whip round for the poor sods on the BP board especially the aptly named CEO Bernard Looney.

The bloody media have had a hand in this too,I think this was pre planned hence the announcement by Gina whatsherface and her new party.

It's easier now to start panic buying than it ever was due to the media and web,I've told this story before but it is a salient point,in my late teens my old mum came home from the shops with several packets of salt, she told me that the word at the shops was there was a shortage of salt.......don't be so bloody daft Cheshire is just up the road and built on salt.

She wouldn't have it,in fairness having struggled not many years before with war and rationing the women emptied the shops of salt, some pillock had started the rumour and so there was a short lived shortage.

Soon remedied because most households had enough salt to last a year.
Energy....secure and affordable, not that hard is it?

Who says there was a fuel shortage looming?
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

Because there was a looming shortage at the pumps as a result of HGV driver shortage made acute by the 'pingdemic' but now blamed also on the suspension of new driver training during lockdown and on Brexit. I also wonder (but I don't know the answer) whether 'long covid' has hit HGV drivers badly because it makes them unfit for work when people in less safety-critical jobs might be OK.

Faith in public servants has disappeared hasn't it? The louder they shout that there isn't a problem the less they are believed. What a sad state of affairs.

To be honest Toots, I never had much faith in public servants in general or politicians in particular. But Grant Shapps does seem particularly cack handed

Maybe something that should be filed under things best left unsaid. :)
