We're now on our third county of England in our lifetimes. We live in a village of less than 2,000 people and like the last town we lived in, Stourbridge, it has good bad and ugly.
I don't care what sex, colour, religion or football team you might be attached to.
I do care whether you are friendly and helpful and want to take part in keeping the place habitable, free from litter, without too much noise, and I'll help to do those things.
As in all communities, society is as unified as the local youth club, scout hall, women's institute, British Legion, pub might make it.
Apart from that, most people associate with their families and a few well chosen friends. That's our bubble.

There is a pendulum that swings side to side throughout history - it hardly ever stays still in the middle creating balance but swings to each side as each generation attempts to correct the wrongs that they perceive that the previous generations have created. At present the focus is on diversity and individuality and the right to heard no matter the belief.

For there to be a truly unified society surely we would all have to be seen to be equal. I doubt that that is possible for variations will always exist from colour/nationality, wealth, looks, intelligence/education, parentage in terms of being a happy child parented by both to having a single parent or being an orphan etc. Until we realise that all are worthy of respect without judgement no matter their perceived failings/successes not only this country but the world will not be unified.

Do you consider there to be such a thing as a unified British Society?

Or are we in societal bubbles based on factors like wealth etc?
Frankly no, Britain has never been as divided as it is now since the time of Oliver Cromwell.

I think some deluded souls think it could be.
<t>In matters of taxation, Lord Clyde\'s summing up in the 1929 case Inland Revenue v Ayrshire Pullman Services is worth a glance.</t>

Don't believe everything you think.
